Here are my numerous questions:

  1. How far is San Pedro port from LAX?
  2. Where is a good place to crash the night before the cruise?
  3. Is there shuttles from LAX to any hotels or is it better to get a taxi? How much does that run?
  4. Do the hotels offer shuttles?
  5. How far is venice beach or long beach from LAX?

Thanks to any who can help!

After the cruise we will be spending two days (i dont know where right now) locally and then flying out.

Where is CJW? This is exactly the kind of question he loves to answer.

1) About 20 miles.

2) You are better off in downtown Long Beach (just across the bridge - see photos below) than in industrial San Pedro. Nonetheless, many like the Crown Plaza in San Pedro.

3) There are shuttles from LAX to the hotels near LAX, but I don't know of any from LAX to the hotels near the port.

4) Shuttles to where? There may be a few that offer shuttles to the port. However, I would be very surprised if there is a hotel that offers a shuttle to both the airport and the port (given that they are 20 miles apart).

5) Venice is just about next door to LAX. Long Beach is about 20 miles away.

2 - I'd spend the night in San Pedro Doubletree or Crowne Plaza.

Info and things to see in the area here:

3 - Check SuperShuttle and PrimeTime websites to check prices and reservations for shuttles. Taxi is about $60 not including tip, but if there are two or more people it might be price comparable and faster than a shuttle.

4 - Both the Doubletree and the Crowne Plaza offer free shuttles to and from the hotel to the port.

5 - Long Beach is far, Venice Beach area is about 5 miles.

As far as staying somewhere after your cruise, in areas with things to see, and convenient to LAX, check this thread below with lots of info:

Look at the ones in the Marina Del Ray area, and then Santa Monica.

Hope this helps.
