Drydock Schedule???

Recommended Posts

I have not been on here for a while! I was starting to look for information for the Navigator since we just booked the March 23 2009 cruise and found your postings.

Thanks for the information!

Are the dry dock schedules fairly solid?

I see she is in for dry dock up to Feb and just was curious if that is normally fairly accurate?

The explorer should be drydocked in jan 10. No cruise available from 1/3-1/13.

First cruise after christmas 09 is jan 14, 2010.

Believe me, that time period was the one I was waiting for to book...lol Those are the dates that work with our kids college break.

One never knows until RCCL announces changes to the schedule or a CC finds out when they overhear it on board a ship. That is how we get this information.;)

If no one lets us know, we can not update the lists.

Updates

As with any schedule that RCCL puts out way in advance, things change.

I used to post that statement with the DryDock schedule so that CC's would be aware of sudden dates that were different.

I will start doing that again. :D

Waiting to hear from Brilliance Cruisers on board this week on the repo to Southhampton how she looks after her drydock. Here is a picture of her on May 13 as she pulled out of the drydock (going backwards up that channel for some reason)

How is it that we have a booked cruise leaving Oct. 29, 2009 for an 9 nighter (thru Nov. 6th 2009 )

Are these days subject to change?

Thanks for that information. ;)

Unfortunately we have to rely on the CC's to give us all of this as RCCL does not come out with their schedules too often, almost never.

I will remove that and place a question mark there.

Alexis,

I just read on CC that some say the Grandeur will get a CL in November. Wouldn't that require drydock or are they doing that on the fly???

Anybody recently on the Grandeur heard anything?

I hope that this time the rumor is correct but similar ones have been floating about for quite some time and have yet to come to fruition. I don't believe that a drydock would be required, especially if they convert the current card room to a CL as they did on the Legend and Splendour since there was not even any plumbing work required. Installation of a keyed door is about all that would be necessary, if the outer walls of the room are already there. :)

If they do Grandeur, can Vision and Rhapsody be far behind.;)

Does anyone happen to know what would cause a ship to be "out for maintenance" for just 1 cruise?

I am booked on the 3/2/2009 Grandeur Cruise with a group. I did my daily check for lower prices today and noticed that all cabin categories said N/A. I called RCCL and all they would tell me is that the ship is "closed for maintenance". Both agents that I spoke with stated that they didnt know if the ship wasnt sailing or if it was a computer maintenance issue.

has anyone experienced this before or know what this might mean.

I see Adventure Of The Seas is scheduled for drydock 4/26 to 5/6/09. We are booked for the 5/24/09 sailing. Can anyone tell me the type of updates we can expect to see made on the ship? Thanks in advance.

I have experienced it before...and it is not a good sign. Sometimes it means the ship has been chartered, or it looked like that with Empress when it was leaving the the fleet. :o those are rare things...so I would keep up a positive outlook, and consider that it is probably just a computer glitch or re-sort and it should be back up in a few days. :D

There's some sort of student Music thing going on...so maybe it is just temporary. Link is here: http://www.musfestivals.com/cf/cruisefestivals.htm But you should probably post the question on the main board...so we don't clutter Alexis's Drydock thread. Sorry Alex. :)

A drydock does not necessarily require taking the ship out of service for more than just one cruise. A lot will depend on the level of maintenance that will be required and the amount of time required to complete that work. An example of this would be the upcoming drydocking of the Jewel of the Seas in October when the diesel generator will be repaired. It appears that it will only require RCI to cancel one 5 night Boston/Canada cruise and the ship will be back in service and on its regular schedule. There can be any number of reasons that the website will show a ship as being unavailable, including a chartering or a cancellation, or even a problem with the website. Unfortunately, the CSRs are not always aware of what is going on, and some have been known to be rather inventive in explaining situations when they don't know the facts.
