RSSC newbie

We are very intrigued by an itinerary on Mariner for '09 but have not sailed with RSSC before. Been cruising with Sitmar (eons ago), P&O, Princess, HAL and Oceania. Any insights or advice for us? Thanks for your input. PENNY

Well, think about what you like or dislike about your past experiences. The closest is probably Oceania (although I've not done O myself.) Regent has not done away with dress codes, so there are likely to be informal and formal nights on the longer itineraries. The cabins are much larger than Oceania, except for the very top cabins I believe. There are no inside cabins, and they all have balconies on Mariner. (And they all have fridges stocked with included drinks.)

The dining is wonderful (I haven't been on Mariner, but have been on all the other current RSSC ships). It's all inclusive, including wine and other alcohol and all other drinks, no tipping, wonderful service. Good reasonably-price excursions. Usually very good lecturers and enrichment, entertainment just fair.

Penny,

The chances are fairly good that RSSC will have that cruise or a similar one in '09 since it is the last leg of the Grand Asia Pacific cruise. They have done that GAP cruise for a few years now. I have not been on Mariner yet, but we did the reverse of the cruise you are interested in on Voyager in '06 as part of a much larger cruise. I am not sure what kind of information you are looking for here, but we did keep a journal of our trip if you are interested.

The link above starts in Los Angeles and you can click on the little blue arrows at the right on the top and bottom of each entry to page forward through it. It was on Mariner's sister ship and in reverse order, but it might give you some idea what to expect. Here's hoping RSSC offers your cruise choice again and that you will get to enjoy it.
