How much do you spend on your Sea Pass?

Recommended Posts

I think you deserve some sort of prize. Shows it's not necessary to spend big bucks.

Some would say I'm just cheap. :D Seriously, since we cruise a lot we try to spend our money wisely and not waste it on gambling or excessive drinking. This is just our personal choice. Certainly not being critical of others who do. We also always book our future cruises on the ship for the on board credit. Even if we're not sure which cruises we will be sailing we'll just book anything and then switch the reservation when we decide. The on board credit will be adjusted. Everyone enjoys their vacation in their own personal way. That's what it's all about.

Wow! Big range of amounts. I forgot about the pictures!!! They cost so much. We don't drink, so that will save. I'm sure we'll get the soda package for DH and DD. Excursions are already paid for.

You've given me hope! I may just prepay a portion of it.

Thanks so much!

Our seapass bill for 14 nights on the Navigator, two of us (me and DH) was $2480.00 USD. We also spent $200 USD in cash on additional tips and £500.00 pounds which we changed to euros. Our tips were pre-paid and we only did two small excursions so the rest was mainly on drinks  , we do love those lava flows though :D

My wife and myself are going on our first cruise on the 16th March 2008 on Explorer. The sea pass bill I must admit is one thing that worries me. I am used to paying as I go. Can you bring your own cash for the casino, or does this have to be charged to your sea pass account? Also what sort of prices are the drinks? Beer or whiskey for example. I have been known to spend quite a bit on the booze on previous holidays, me being Irish:eek: . I've seen a few people commenting on the prices for drink saying it is expensive. I was wondering though if that is by American standards. We would typically pay about $7-$9 for a beer here in Ireland. Thanks for any info:)

On our last cruise our onboard bill was about $400 which included tips and we left extra for our cabin attendant. We don't drink, we book private shore excursions and we bring travelers checks for the casino. You can spend a ton on ship shopping, but we just don't do it.

Our last cruise...final bill was about 3000.00. We only did 1 excursion in Labadee (jet ski) but did go to the specialty restaurants 4 times and purchased wine all 4 times. We enjoy a few drinks around the pool every day, enjoy going into the casino at night for a while (usually no more than $50-100) We typically will purchase a few photos of the kids and the kids will spend some money in the game room. On the last cruise it was our sons 17th birthday so he and my DH did go to the spa. I believe you can spend a LOT of money if you don't keep up.....its really easy to "swipe the card" Our daughter (9) even had charges on her card last cruise. In the AO they can accumulate charges for computer usage without your knowledge and she didn't understand either. Just set your limits before you board.

Very curious to find out how much people spend and on what. I don't think we'll prepay tips this time, but do wonder about what our final bill will be. I hope it's really, really low. Hoping to get ideas.

What do you normally spend on your sea pass?

We sorta spend a bit on our cruises, since it's vacation..LOL

Anyhow...our 4 day cruises run us about $1200 and the most our 7 nighters ran was $4500...but our typical 7 nt. is about $2500 for the 2 of us.

For 3 of us it was just under $600. Included 3 coke cards, tips, arcade for the kids, and a $100 payment towards a future cruise. The rest were drinks, photos and a few trinkets. The photos are expensive. Most are $19.95, some are $9.95. You can't get the smaller size one unless you buy what they originally develop - the larger at $19.95.

Most beers were around the $4 - $5 range, depending on what type you drank. Some of the specialty drinks were in the $5-$6 range.

I do warn my kids to be careful, otherwise they'd go crazy.

It's real simple.

Use it as a key card for your Cabin and the bill will be 0

Give it to anyone else on board the ship and the balance starts to climb, especially if you give to the on board Art Auction people.

$2516 on our last cruise (7 nights). That included wine and dine, soda package, excursions, hubby's gambling (I used to work in horse racing industry, so no appeal for me), cash for in port, onboard shopping, misc drinks, and photos. Our cruise last year, we spent approx $1100, onboard.

Mine has never been over $200 though I am upping that to about $300 this fall. Of course, we don't drink and we won't be doing any shore excursions through RCI. I will charge 1 souvenier, soda cards, a few photos and possibly a spa package.

I plan on taking all of our loose change that we have in a jar to the bank and depositing it to our account. I will then charge RCL Gift Certificates to the RCL visa. I will the apply the gift certs. to our OBC, and still have the points on my card.

Over and above tips - we average $500 - $700 a cruise for the both of us.

That includes a little of everything - We also pay for excrusions before we go. So that money is spent on the ship - Coffee, Drinks, $10 Store, Etc.

We've never spent that much, although those excursions add up. It's always been under $500 for a 7 day cruise. But for our next cruise in a month, I'm not going to spend a dime (except for maybe a souvenir or picture :D ). Unfortunately, we had to buy a car a couple weeks ago (after final payment for the cruise), so I'm not in the mood to rack up any more bills. I really don't think it will be that hard since we had already decided (before the car) not to do any excursions, we don't drink, and we don't gamble. Plus our taste buds are quite happy with the food that's included in our fare. :)

Gosh we are really cheap then! I never go to the spa since here in Williamsburg, VA we have so many top notch spas so why spend double on them on a ship. ALso, we never prepay the tips, we like to give them the cash. And whatever excursions we do we prepay if going through RCI like the waverunner in Labadee. So that is already done with. All other excursions are done privately with either visa or cash that day. We do not drink much and use our coupons for buy one get one free. We always have tons of obc(this next cruise it is $600, and I may be able to get another 50 added to that when I pay my final bill for the cruise). SO we end up taking money home when we cash out the final night. Then that is put towards our next cruise ...well at least that is how I justify it! HEHEHE!

On our B2B this past February, we spent $400 the first week and $600 the second week. I think we were more conservative knowing we were going to be on the ship for 14 nights and didn't want to break the bank!

We are doing another B2B this February and are expecting the combined total for both weeks to be around $1200. My DH doesn't drink at all, and I usually have one umbrella drink a day - so alcohol is not where we are spending our money! Where are we spending it??? Gift shops, pictures, soda packages etc.
