saric09 Posted August 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2007 Hello, in December i will spent a Day on Barbados and want to make a bus-tour to see a few beaches. Could anyone tell me which beaches are close to the bus stops (line 12a)? Bottom Bay, Crane Beach, Foul Bay, Miami Beach..., is it possible Something more or better? I want to end the day at Brighton Beach to be close to the ship. Thank you for an answer, saric09

Thank you for an answer, saric09 Hi,Saric Those beaches you mention are pleasant and scenic, but not too close to local bus-routes. Oh sure, there are those who'd tell you it can be done, but it'll be more complicated than you're up to, I reckon. You'd be better off to hire a car for the day, or arrange with someone to take you around in a taxi or something like that. What do I mean by 'not too close'? Bottom Bay is gorgeous, but it's a half-mile walk from the nearest bus route (if it goes that way at all..I'm not sure..it's out in the sticks!) Sure you can walk a half-mile! - in this sun? Crane: equally gorgeous - and a bit more accessible, about a quarter-mile walk from the bus that runs right by there, but get this: after you leave one location you gotta wait on a dodgy once-per-hour? bus frequency to go on to your next beach: it's not gonna work. Foul Bay, not far from Crane, in fact you could easily walk from Crane to Foul Bay.. they're about half-mile apart? - more sun Miami Beach is near to Oistins town, so that one's practically-accessible by bus if you're determined to do it that way. I'd still recommend your own private means of transport for the day. As you'll discover, travel within Barbados is not as easy as we like to portray it, which is why we have taxis and tour buses in abundance! During rush hour you can forget using the public bus service and that's just about the time you'll be wanting to get back to your ship! If you were on the island for a week, I'd be enthusiastic for you and would say Yes, by all means give it a try by bus! But you're here for a few hours. One missed bus (Sorree..we're all full up!) and your tight return schedule is toast! I hope you appreciate my frankness...sorry to rain on your parade. ______________________________ pcdoctor@caribsurf.com
