Gatwick to Southampton via Rail

I am planning to take the train from Gatwick to Southampton Will be arriving on Delta just before noon.

Would like any information and / or suggestions on the train schedule and fares. Is there a driect train? Is the train station located in or near the terminal?

Delta operates from the North Terminal.

 

After exiting Customs, go up one floor to the middle level, and take the inter-terminal shuttle train to the South Terminal. This only takes a few minutes. The railway station is very close by the shuttle train's terminal at that end; you don't have to go into the South Terminal itself.

 

The train to Southampton runs once an hour and takes about two hours (IIRC). For more details, including times and fares, use this site.
