ngl116 Posted August 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2007 I'm leaving on the Liberty on 8/18 and will visit St Thomas, Antigua, and Tortola (among others). I am trying to arrange for scuba diving at these ports. Is there anyone who has sailed this ininerary lately who can tell me if there is a difference in ship time and port time for these ports? Thanks!
Wild Bill Posted August 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2007 I haven't been on the Liberty yet, but I did a search on "what time is it?", and came up with Antigua is currently on the same time as we are on the East coast, right now. They don't observe daylight savings time, so until we set our clocks back, they will be on the same time. I hope that helps a little. oldmedic Posted August 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2007 I asked this same question about two weeks ago, several responses advised ships time is the same at San Juan time. please post a review when you get back, we are going on the Liberty in October.... sw6416 Posted August 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2007 I have been on the 6 day liberty, Freeport, GC and Costa Maya. Ship time was local time.It changed from Eastern time zone to Central time zone as we traveled. Pay attention to the capers it will tell you as needed. serene56 Posted August 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2007 The time in those ports are the same time as Florida time when you cruise in August. Liberty will not be changing clocks to reflect island time for the eastern ports. Liberty DOES change for the western side-- Tueday night they change their clocks back one hour. This is for now-- Clocks change time on November 4th. if sailing AFTER this date youhave to check to see if the places you visit observe daylight savings time. Wadadli Sails Posted August 10, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2007 The most important time to have is the ship's time. Before you go into port go to the information desk to get the ship's time. This goes a long way in preventing the ship from leaving you.
