jspirit Posted August 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2007 After disembarking our cruise ship in Dover, how far is it to catch the ferry ? Need a taxi? How much money for taxi and ferry? How long is the ride on the ferry? Accept foot passengers? Necessary to book months in advance? How close in Calais is the Eurostar station to go to Paris? Just trying to figure all this out . Would really appreciate info if anyone has done this! Thanks!

The cruise terminal is at the Western Docks, and the ferries go from the Eastern Docks - probably about 1-1½ miles away. Yes, the ferries will take foot passengers. It shouldn't be necessary to book in advance, although the ferry companies' websites may show whether you can get lower prices if you do. See this post of mine about taxis from the Dover cruise terminal. AFAIK, you can't get the Eurostar from Calais to Paris - international journeys only. But you should be able to get normal SNCF trains (icon for English language at the bottom right).

Heck, that would be a panic - I wouldn't like to do this one . . .and we tend to vacation in France every year
Rare HeinBloed Posted August 19, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2007 Norfolk Line does not accept foot passenger. SeaFrance accept gurantuee that foot passenger can go. Same P&O. If you do not like to spend too much money for the taxi: Take the bus of the city to downtown. Walk to the Priory Station. There is a courtesy bus to the ferry terminal. Same in Calais. The courtesy bus takes you to station. There is a small fee on each section. Regards, HeinBloed N.B. You can also check: http://www.nationalexpress.com They offer to some European destinations direct connections from the ferry incl. ferry. Maybe this is more convenient for you.
