Anyone Know What The Usual Air Route From Lax To Auckland Is?

Especially Interested If You Are Near The Islands Of The South Pacific And Can See Them From The Air.

Any Particular Side Of The Plane Better For Views?

If We Arrive Auckland 6-7am - Will These Islands Be In Night When We Cross Over Them?

I Just Remember How Spectacular It Was The First Time We Went To Hawaii - And We Descended Below The Cloud Pack - And Voila! - There Was The Hawaiian Chain ! Beautiful....

Hoping For The Same Type Experience !!

First, a word of advice: Please make sure your CAPS LOCK key is off when you're typing your post. If you type in ALL CAPITALS it's very difficult to read. In addition, on the Internet it looks like you're shouting and therefore being rude, although I'm sure you don't intend to be.

The board software has tried automatically to tone down what you've typed by putting only a capital letter at the front of each word. But it's still very difficult to read.

To answer your question: You're unlikely to see any islands during your flight. You'll be flying through the night, departing after it gets dark and not arriving in New Zealand until just about the time of the next sunrise that you'll see. The routes vary from day to day, because a great deal of flexibility has been built in to the South Pacific air navigation systems to allow aircraft to take advantage of the most favourable winds on the day.

Hundai has a great new commercial. -"DUH" - Let's see, you leave LAX at 9:30PM - it's dark. You arrive AKL at 7:15AM - it's just getting light. So all you could see would be about the last two hours. I don't think there's much to see. Just kick back and enjoy the balance of your 13 hour "sardine can" flight.
