Times Square Question

This is such an open ended question. Are you planning on just exploring the Times Square area? There is too much else to do other than just Times Square. While in Times Square, just walk around - you won't miss anything. Try to see a show.

As for food, what types of food are you interested in? Once you answer that, then you will get a lot of suggestions.

Times Square really doesn't have much other than the big hotels, and places to eat including fast food. You have Broadway right there to look at the signs for the shows, but that's about it. Times Square is nice when its lit up at night, but again, that's about it.

If you want to do the "tourist" thing, there are many chain theme restaurants in Times Square... Planet Hollywood, ESPN Zone, etc.

If you want something that's more unique to New York, you can visit John's Pizzeria on 44th Street. It's believed to be the biggest pizzeria in the country, as its location was once a church. It has a beautiful stained glass window in the ceiling. Great food, too!

I like to go to Restaurant Row, 46th Street between 8th and 9th Aves. Lots of Italian places, very reasonable prices. I have been to Da Rosina, Capri, and Becco.

In addition to the Broadway Shows, Caroline's Comedy Club is in Times Square on Broadway... but if you want to save some money and still have a laugh, the HA! Comedy Club is on Restaurant Row on 46th.

Madame Toussaud's Wax Museam is in Times Square.. it's ok, but I was glad I had a discount coupon for it.

There is a big Toys R Us with a Ferris wheel in in, the Disney Store, etc.

Rockefeller Plaza is a short walk from Times Square... walk down 49th, 50th or 51st to between 6th and 5th Avenues, a 10 minute walk. You can see the Today Show Studio/NBC Store, Top of the Rock, the ice rink/Xmas tree in season, Radio City Music Hall and St. Patrick's Cathedral.

The coolest thing to do in Times Square is to stand on the island in the middle of the street at night and just look around!

You will find more to do tourist wise outside of Times Square if you aren't planning on going to a show. Otherwise, it's lots of lights and crowds.

I can recommend a few restaurants - John's Pizza and Tony's Dinapoli Restaurant.

Tony's is amazing!!!! but i really like Beccos as well!! =)

i know it's a tourist trap...but i get a kick out of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

but other than that...dining anywhere in Times Sq kinda blows. But Restaurant Row is pretty darn good. i say take the subway N, R, Q, W or 4, 5, 6 to 14th St. Union Square there are lots of places to eat and away from the big crowds. but the crowds down here are pretty fun to watch also.

but honestly...so many places to dine in NYC. very tough to pick just one. hell i love getting food from the hot buffet section of Food Emporium (grocery) and just sitting outside.

I almost ended up at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, but it started raining, so, we ended up eating nearby. It was probably better than where I went to.

There is a world of things to do in the Times Square area and the immediate vicinity. It's all amazing. Catch a Broadway show for sure. Walk up to Central Park and take a bicycle rickshaw tour. Go east and visit Bryant Park. Rockefeller Center is nearby. You can walk to soooo many things within just a few blocks.

We really enjoyed St. Andrews restaurant. Scottish restaurant with reasonable prices, a great pub and service and tasty food. Roxy's deli in Times Square was much better than Stage Deli if you want to try a deli. Anthony Bourdain's Les Halles was good for Sunday brunch but did require a subway ride.
