Santo Domingo

I would like to visit even though I am not sure if the cruise itinerary includes this. Excluding hurricanes, is this island of the Dominican Republic considered safe to travel? Any responses would be greatly appreciated!

This is not a regular stop for Princess yet but I believe they are going to make it one in the future.

We were diverted there on the Crown last July due to a tropical storm.

We were in LaRomana, it was very beautiful and quite safe.

The Captain said it was the first Princess ship to ever dock there.

As with any island it pays to be aware when you are out and about.

We were on the Millie(celebrity) & one of their stops is Dominican Republic. My DD & I opted for a shore excursion to Santo Domingo through Celebrity. We had a policeman walk with us through much of the walking tour & back to the bus. There is a load of history on this Island & especially in Santo Domingo. The only reason we did the tour was because it was ship sponsored. We would not of walked around this Island on our own. We were very glad that we did it & saw & experienced what we did.
