Globaliser Posted August 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Any suggestions where to go for High Tea in London ...Try this thread for ideas. And as pointed out by daiB here, you're almost certainly looking for "afternoon tea", not "high tea".
Elaine0138 Posted August 20, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2007 High Tea is a popular Scottish meal. It consits of a main course ie steak pie, fish or a ham salad. Followed by scones and cakes.
scouse mouse Posted August 25, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 25, 2007 If you are having afternoon tea at The Ritz be prepared to dress up. Friends of ours where not allowed in due to him not wearing a tie (did tell them not to wear shell suits!!!!!).

Friends of ours where not allowed in due to him not wearing a tie (did tell them not to wear shell suits!!!!!). The Savoy, which is closing at the end of the year for refurbishment, has lowered standards and does not insist on a tie for tea. More's the pity. However the tea itself is excellent. K8T Posted August 26, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Definately the Ritz, everything about it is pure British. Be aware that they also don't allow jeans. My friends and I used to change in the Ladies, which is lovely, so do go into the Loo!!! £35 sounds a bit steep, but you have little sandwiches, scones, small cakes too and don't be afraid to ask for more. The waiters are great and will keep refilling you with tea or coffee. Don't have too much lunch, as you really won't make the most of it!! Pip pip!!! sboh Posted August 27, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 27, 2007 If you're out and about the "Orangery" at Kensington Palace is casual but quite nice. The gardens are lovely.
