Gingee Posted August 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2007 I would be curious if anyone cruising now in the gulf could tell me how it is. I mean with the hurricane down farther. Is it rocky? Is it rainy?
Robin7 Posted August 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2007 The gulf looks okay so far. I love this site. My inlaws were just on the Regal Princess last week and they left Maui just as Flossie was heading that way. It looked like they were out of range before the heavy seas hit, and when they called us during disembarkation, she said they had 'glassy' seas all the way across back to Los Angeles. So I guess the site is pretty accurate. Don't know about rain, though. (Just click the area you're intersted in.) Rare Lois R Posted August 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Hi,:) I have sailed during the hurricane season before. The Captain will go in the opposite direction (even if it means totally changing itineraries). (If the storm is close). They always try to avoid them of course. Example, Dean is all over the Western Caribbean and many of the current itineraries have been changed and the ships are going East instead. Actually, if you check out the home page on here there is a lot of information on what ships are doing what. The Captains of those vessels don't want to go through a storm any more than their passengers;)
