malonester Posted August 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2007 I am taking the Princess excursion "Amsterdam on your own" and was wondering if anyone knows 1) where the bus drops you off in Amsterdam. 2) the best way to get to the Anne Frank House from the bus drop-off Thanks
Ine Posted August 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2007 I donot know where the bus will drop you, but cruiseterminal is very close to city-center. Tram 25 starts at the cruiseterminal and goes into town. If you change trams at centraal Station and continue on nr. 13, get off at Westerkerk/Prinsengracht you can walk to Ann Frankhouse. Check B4 and B5 at these maps, you will see nothing is that far apart. http://www.amsterdam.info/print/map/
Ine Posted August 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2007 I now realise you will probably be docked in Rotterdam (not Amsterdam) and take a busservice into Amsterdam.. Most likely your dropoff point will be: 1. Museumplein (close to Rijksmuseum and Vangoghmuseum), within walking distance from e.g. Heineken, and good tramconnections into city-center, C4 section of the map. Or 2. Near RAI Conventioncenter, a little more south, also with tramconnections into city-center. You can make on-line reservation for Ann Frank house, best way to avoid the sometimes long waitinglines. http://www.annefrank.org/content.asp?pid=1&lid=1&setlanguage=
malonester Posted August 24, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted August 24, 2007 OK - so I can take the C4 tram to city center and then another tram back to the Anne Frank museum? Is there a canal ride close to the Museumplein that would go to the Anne Frank house? Thanks
Ine Posted August 25, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 25, 2007 OK - so I can take the C4 tram to city center and then another tram back to the Anne Frank museum? Is there a canal ride close to the Museumplein that would go to the Anne Frank house? Thanks C4 isnot the tramnumber, but the section on the maps I mentioned. From Museumplein you can take tramnr.24 (direction Centraal Station) to Munt (Mint) and change there to tramnr 14 to Westerkerk/Prinsengracht. Info about tickets etc. on this site: http://www.gvb.nl/english/travellers/ticketsandfares/index.html There also is a canalbusstop near Rijksmuseum, which you can take to Ann Frankhouse. http://www.canal.nl/en/theme.php?theme_id=
teacherman Posted August 25, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2007 We are pre-cruise at Victoria Hotel, across from Central Station. Would it be easy for us to take a tram to the ship (Celebrity Century on September 13)? If so, which tram? We will have 1 suit case each plus a carry-on. Also, we plan to take train from airport to Central Station. Any advice/info is welcome. Thank you.

Victoria Hotel is opposite Centraal Station, just across the street (but be aware of the passing trams!). From CS to the cruise terminal you can take tramnr.25 direction PTA, or 26 direction IJburg. PTA is the endstation of 25, 26 stops near the terminal but continues to IJburg. Both trams travel into 2 directions, so be sure to take the one into the right direction! Trains offer good connection from the airport to Centraal Station, but keep an eye on all your belongings at all times. If you travel during rushhour, consider to travel 1st class, which gives more space.
teacherman Posted August 25, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2007 Thank you. I did not know we could get first class for such a short ride.
