juneau-ite Posted May 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Just an amazing day on the Juneau ocean. Still on our tremendous sunshine streak of 20 straight days and we saw our first group of bubble net feeding humpback whales, of the 2004 season. Then we saw a super-pod of Orca, between 40-50 animals. Some breaching & spy hopping ... just amazing. Hope this helps ...
rocks Posted May 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Hi! How lucky you are to see such a site! Is there a time of day that is best to spot whales? We will be in Juneau from 7am till 11pm & wondering what time to take a whale watch tour. Thinking of Capt. Larry. This is our 1st time to Alaska & we are very excited. rocks B2B Ryndam* 1st Alaska Cruise
juneau-ite Posted May 22, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Like BQ says, 24/7, the whales are here and eating. Pick the tour/time that works best for you. Then, hope you have a tremendous trip. 99.9% of the Juneau whale watch trips do not dissapoint .... and quite frequently, they are 'discovery channel' awesome. Today was one of those. Hope yours is great ...

Rare misguy Posted May 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2004 We booked with Capt Larry, and when the ship was late arriving, they had a boat and a skipper standing by, and credited back some of our fee since they were having to shorten the trip. We were the only ones on our sailing to get to go. We saw a cow and her calf. Till we sail on the Norwegian Spirit \Leo
