Sail & Sign..What Was Your Balance?

We had about $1200 on our sail & sign the last cruise (four of us.) That did not count shore excursions, we booked those privately. That does not count any gambling either. We take cash for that. I do not do the spa, just find pedicures and massages are better at home. I guess our tab was mostly drinks (bottles of wine at dinner and our tips. And, I can't forget the pictures, that is probably my weakness.

Just back from the Liberty a few weeks ago and our balance was $158. I bought three pair of earrings on the last night at 50% off. Got all three pair (sterling silver) for 30 bucks and the rest was for drinks.

And I thought my $800 bill on my last cruise was bad! We always stay 1-2 days at the home port prior to the cruise so I always make a point to stash some liquor in our suitcase prior to the cruise so we can just order plain drinks and spike them up ourselves. On the last cruise, I went a little "picture" crazy and bought so many! I picked up our bill on the 2nd to last night on the ship and saw only $450 so I thought I did really good! That is until our last day, which was a sea day, and realized we bought nothing for my hubby's little cousins! We had to buy some stuff for them last minute, and when our ship got delayed, we had nothing to do but take some money out and play at the casino. But we had fun so that is all that matters!

I've had final bills at absolutely $ 0, (honestly, in the days before auto tipping it was possible) and others in the $1,000 - $2,000 range. Just depends where and when. The most expensive thing I ever bought on a ship was a piece of jewelry for around $1,000. I do most of my damage off the ship in the ports I visit. :D

The first two cruises were near $1000 because we had to book excursions at the pursar's desk (which went on the sign and sail card).....then too many foo foo drinks, spa and photos.........of course souvenirs......
The last 2 cruises, we limited our drinking (the novelty wore off), less photos, less souvenirs (usually hubby buys a bottle on board and I buy 1 or 2 articles of clothing such as a t-shirt, et al.......no more spas, the last massage was horrible and the person was basically just trying to sell me product........we still buy photos......and the last cruise to Canada, as this time, we haven't booked any excursions........
But, the biggest savings.......we put it on AMEX, so we know we will have to pay the bill at one time!

Oh, I forgot about the auto tipping! So for my $158 bill, $30 was for three pair of earrings, $140 for tips and the rest was drinks...I didn't think I'd drank that much!

Thanks for reminding me about the tips!

Did you have an OBC??? 140 for tips and 30 for earrings is 170. I KNOW you had some drinks on board. I am not a big drinker but plan on a having a few each day.:D

We got ours from the Conquest yesterday, and it was $1275. That included the $140 gratuities. The rest of it was onboard shopping (DH bought a nice watch, I bought DD some jewelry, and a few other things), PHOTOS, bingo, Supper Club, casino, a few drinks for DH, and coffee shop drinks for me. I used my S&S in the slots, and I did cash out over $200 at the end of the cruise, so I guess that should be credited back to that total. On a 7 day cruise, we usually spend around $1000 to $1400, depending on how many photos and other stuff we buy and whether or not we pay for an excursion with it. :o

Worst was $1700 on a 5 day. That did include a nice piece of jewelry for my wife so it was worth every cent . Least was about $450 on a 5 day. Our average is about $200 a day if we do excursions. On our last trip we didn't do many excursions so it was less.
