CruiseCentric Posted August 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Exclusive Haven Debuts As Part of Line's $250 Million 'Evolutions of Fun' Initiative MIAMI, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- When the Carnival Inspiration emerges from its month long dry dock in early October, it will be the first Carnival ship to feature a brand new adults-only area called "Serenity." Designed as an ocean-going oasis for relaxation, tranquility and comfort, the new "Serenity" areas are part of Carnival's $250 million "Evolutions of Fun" ship enhancement initiative which is resulting in a dramatic transformation of the line's eight "Fantasy-class" vessels. The "Serenity" areas will be located in a secluded aft section of the ship that provides for spectacular ocean vistas. The stunning new design will feature plush chaise lounges and chairs. Colorful oversized umbrellas and a separate relaxation area will also provide the opportunity for guests to enjoy this new area in shaded comfort. Two whirlpools will be available to offer the ultimate relaxing escape. Complete bar service will be provided by attentive waiters offering a tempting selection of icy cocktails and frozen concoctions. For guests interested in a snack or casual meal, the Lido Restaurant is conveniently located nearby. "We continually strive to provide a high quality cruise vacation that provides our guests with a wide variety of choices and experiences," said Vicki Freed, Carnival's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Our new 'Serenity' retreat will provide another great new option for those seeking a relaxing alternative to the other exciting outdoor activities and entertainment facilities available on board," she added. The new "Serenity" adults-only areas are just one component of Carnival's wide-ranging "Evolutions of Fun" initiative, cruising's most ambitious ship enhancement program. Other new features to be incorporated into "Fantasy- class" vessels include the Carnival WaterWorks expansive aqua parks featuring 300-foot-long corkscrew water slides, double-lane racing slides and various water-spray apparatus, as well as a new design style and features for the main pool areas. The Carnival Inspiration and Carnival Imagination will be the first two "Fantasy-class" ships to include all of the "Evolutions of Fun" enhancements, which are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. By 2009, all "Fantasy-class" ships are expected to be completed, including the "Serenity" areas and fabulous new transformation of the open decks. Additional components of the "Evolutions of Fun" program include fully remodeled staterooms and suites including new bathrooms, flat-screen televisions in staterooms and select public areas, atrium lobby bars, updated sound and lighting systems in various lounges and clubs, coffee bars, nine- hole miniature golf courses, new art and photo galleries, New York-style delis in the Lido restaurants, and purpose-built conference facilities. "Evolutions of Fun" also encompasses a number of family-friendly enhancements for the "Fantasy-class," including new children's play areas -- part of the line's top-rated "Camp Carnival" program -- new facilities for the "Club O2" teen program, custom-designed spaces geared toward 12- to 14-year olds, and 50 interconnecting staterooms - perfect for large families or family gatherings. The program also includes a complete overhaul of the 12,000-square-foot "Spa Carnival" facilities, with new private treatment rooms, state-of-the art exercise equipment and a host of cosmetic enhancements. Digital renderings of the new "Serenity" adults-only area, along with images of various other "Evolutions of Fun" initiatives, including the "Carnival WaterWorks" aqua parks and redesigned pool areas, can be viewed at http://www.evolutionsoffun.com. Carnival's eight Fantasy-class vessels are part of the line's fleet of 22 "Fun Ships" which operate voyages ranging from three to 16 days in length to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England, Bermuda, Europe, the Greek Isles, and South America. chandom Posted August 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Looks like my guess was correct, back of the Promenade deck. Took the pool out and added two hot tubs.
Caliber1 Posted August 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2007 It looks like the area where the kiddie pool is now kinda.
chandom Posted August 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2007 It is where the kiddie pool is, look at the round yellow and blue thing with the lounger in it... The where the kiddie pool was.
pe4all Posted August 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2007 "Serenity" was the name I entered for the "name the spa" contest on Splendor!! Looks like they liked it enough to use it somewhere else on board! Oh well!
DjVyrus69 Posted August 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2007 The nice thing about it is full bar service and two new hot tubs, which are probably just the ones on the back of the Verandah relocated to the Promenade. This now answers the question of whether it will be top optional or not, because you walk out the back on the Lido deck and look straight down on this area. So ladies, you must keep tops on. DjVyrus69 Posted August 29, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 29, 2007 topless too? It won't be topless since this area is clearly visible from the Lido deck.
Valentine's Mom Posted August 29, 2007 #11 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Where is our pool???? Seems like it will be rather hot to spend much time there. Also with the lido restaurant so close seems it might be rather noisy. But still better than nothing!
Rowan555 Posted August 29, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Where is our pool???? Seems like it will be rather hot to spend much time there. Also with the lido restaurant so close seems it might be rather noisy. But still better than nothing! How many adults really use the pool, anyway? We've been on 7 cruises and I've used the pools MAYBE 3 times total in all 7 cruises. I've used the hot tubs quite a bit more, but usually don't stay in long b/c of the kids in them. I'm personally looking forward to this area, and I think the cushioned lounge chairs are a much better use of the space than a small pool would be. S and J Posted August 29, 2007 #14 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Judging by the photos, only models are allowed to use the area.
Thirsty Cruiser Posted August 29, 2007 #15 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Judging by the photos, only models are allowed to use the area. Really, let's be honest. When have we seen anyone like that on a Carnival ship (except maybe some of the shows).:D They get those fires under control yet? Used to ride my trail bike up in those hills - great country. CatgirlNC Posted August 29, 2007 #16 Share Posted August 29, 2007 It looks great! And I prefer hot tubs over pools, so that's fine with me. I just hope they really enforce the adults-only part.
angelkisses Posted August 29, 2007 #17 Share Posted August 29, 2007 I wish we could get the dry dock schedule for all the fantasy class ships. I know Inspiration and Imagination with be the first two ships for all the upgrades but how about the others? I'm looking forward to the Fascination out of Jacksonville. I may have to book a before and a after drydock just so I can really compare.
glrounds Posted August 29, 2007 #18 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Looks like my guess was correct, back of the Promenade deck. Took the pool out and added two hot tubs. Good guess, chandom . . . yes, it appears to be the "old" kiddie pool area. Talk about a transformation . . . :D If it ever goes topless, it'll be a show for the entire ship as almost every aft public deck looks DOWN on this area. :D
