cruising4u Posted August 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Has anyone sailed in December and if so what the weather will be for sailing the Western Caribbean? Thanks!
cb at sea Posted August 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Once you get below Florida, the weather is pretty pleasant all year long. Of course, no one can predict the ocassional storm, but you should be in warm weather 99% of the time. If you leave from a northern port, you'll have December weather until you hit the gulf. Son of a Cruiser Posted August 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Sailed the Western Caribbean twice out of Galveston in Dec. Great time to go. Weather is plenty warm enough for all water activities but not sweltering hot like in the summer months. Highs usually mid to upper 80s!! Lows around 70. Alexis Posted August 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Thank you both! You can keep track of the weather live up until you sail by going to this site and clicking on the islands you are cruising to. ;) I have sailed many times in December also and it is always beautiful weather. ;) http://weather.caribseek.com/
Mrsg324 Posted August 30, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2007 IMO, Dec is so unpredicitable. Last Nov 30 we left on a cruise out of Galveston. I wore shorts to work the day before, wore shorts to work the day we left on the cruise. Got to work it was 70 something outside. Left work at noon, boarded the ship about 30 miles from the house in 30 something degree weather. The next day the weather was ok, on the pool deck in shorts & sweatshirts...pic in profile from that cruise. Following day Cozumel was gorgeous Following major rocking of the ship coming back into the front heading home. Get home to freezing weather, then less than a week later I'm wearing shorts. One Xmas you are in shorts, the next you are building snowmen. I will say for the most part, usually Dec is really nice leaving on cruises though.
