BirmanCrazy Posted August 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Hi! We are staying overnight in Vancouver and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on a great place to eat. We don't want to have to dress to the nines to eat there and are looking for fresh seafood perhaps.....no chinese food though. Thanks!!!!
Sopwith Posted August 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Try Cardero's. Good seafood, not overly formal, great view of Coal Harbour, walking distance along the waterfront walkway to most downtown hotels. http://www.vancouverdine.com/carderos/home.html
BCHappyGal Posted August 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Cardero's is good but my preference for seafood is The Cannery on Commissioner street. It is a cab ride from your hotel - but a great restaurant located right on the docks with a wonderful view out over the harbor to the north shore mountains. Often the harbor seals and or otters will provide you with a free show. None of the restaurants in Vancouver are overly formal in dress as we the locals are kind of laid back and don't normally dress to the "9's" just to go out for dinner. eetonaee Posted August 30, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Can I put a plug in for The Boathouse. The English Bay location is a great place to watch the sunset. You can then walk up Denman Street for gelato. www.boathouserestaurants.ca/
Urban trekker Posted August 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Joe Fortes is located right in the heart of the Robson Street shopping district - here's a link: http://joefortes.ca/ Cheers Dennis
ell52 Posted August 30, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Any of the above. Also: The Sandbar on Granville Island. http://www.vancouverdine.com/sandbar/location.html#
Corby44 Posted September 9, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 9, 2007 One place to avoid is O'doull"s on Robson Street. Ate there a few weeks ago and had the worst and most over-priced meal ever. Oh well, live and learn.
TexasJam Posted September 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Can we wear jeans or should we wear dress pants to these restaurants? Thanks, Jamie
cruisecookie Posted September 9, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2007 We just came back from our 3-day post-cruise visit to Vancouver. We really enjoyed our dinner at the Top of Vancouver restaurant. I hope I have the name right. It's the revolving restaurant on top of the Vancouver Lookout. The view is wonderful. The food is good, but pricey. Main course was $28-$35. We also had a nice and less expensive dinner at Milestones on Robson Street. I wore jeans to both places. ell52 Posted September 10, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Can we wear jeans or should we wear dress pants to these restaurants? Thanks, Jamie Vancouver is a pretty casual place. There are very few places where you need to wear dress pants. For men, decent jeans or khaki style pants with a collared shirt will get you in most restaurants. Jeans would be fine in the above mentioned restaurants.
