What happened to the Titanic?

Recommended Posts

Perhaps this thread can be re-stirred into a serious thread about the Titanic? The latest special on the History Channel has resparked my interest, did anyone else see it? Very interesting theories about how the ship went down.

From 1912 to 1985 many people thought it went down in one piece. In 1985 when the wreck was discovered in two pieces, many people believed it broke up at the surface, and the stern righted briefly before sinking. The special on the History Channel showed the results of a 2005 expedition; apparently the most likely story on the sinking is that she broke apart at the surface and then jack-knifed before falling apart.
