Firsthand sneak peak at Solstice (Merger of Several Threads)

I was thinking b2b would be good. Not sure if we could swing the AQ price for both sailings, though.

Ok, I'm not telling you what cabin we're sailing in for our b2b.:p Perhaps a regular class cabin for the first leg and and "upgrade to the AQ for the second leg?

We will be solving 'that' problem by staying in Key West pre-cruise for a few days. That gets us the long stretch we are looking for with the cruise being only 7.

I too am looking forward to see if the the new builds will be doing the longer Caribbean cruises.

They've got to, right???:)

I would do that in a heartbeat. Some would not like it because you have to pack and unpack but it would be a good way of trying AQ and a week of it likely would be enough. It would be fun to have their weekly menu and then the main dining room's.

I think they do. Independence, the third Freedom class, is doing 6 and 8 night cruises. I'm hopeful the second or third Solstice class does 10 nights or so.

A few days in Key West might cost you what a week on Solstice will! I was gobsmacked by the cost of hotels there!

Just put a deposit down on a Suite and a CC cabin for a Feb 15 sailing!

This is so exciting! I really wanted to take NCL again as I had the best time on my cruise last week, but I can't find a 9 day cruise that will fit in over President's week in 2009 for us. My TA told me about the Solstice and since I had a great experience and fantastic food on the Millennium, I thought this sounded intriguing.

Hope to read more!

I hope we do not have to wait that long...

As for Key West, OMG yes, it's crazy! The only thing that will work for me is that part of my budget gets better because of no casino. I am a hound in that department. There are some nice B&B's which are moderate in range.

See, there you go! I've just given you an excuse to book a b2b!

(I want to go NOW!)

Good to know! We saw some hotels that looked fine (not fab but not drab) and came home and looked them up and then found out these places are $300 a night! Yikes!!!

I like the way you think! We're hoping to do a transatlantic that fall but if it didn't work out, I would totally want the b2b. It would be a great way to experience Blu and the main room.

Has anyone been able to get into the renderings that Celebrity has been posting on the Solstice???

I've been trying to access that portion of the X site for days, but I get a message that says the server is down. Usually this happens if they are uploading new info/images, but this has lasted for more than a week. Is it just me??? Help!

Thanks for any help.

I assume you're talking about at celebritysolstice.com?

Yeah, no problems.

You've answered my question. I've been trying to get to the Solstice info through the celebrity.com site by clicking on the "more details" link once the little introductory blurb about dining about the Solstice has completed.

I didn't know about the direct link to celebritysolitice.com Way cool! Thanks!

The location is the reason for the price difference between C1 and C2. Note the C1s are midship or aft, or Resort deck. Midship cabins have always been higher in price, and (sadly) they've finally figured out how much some people love aft cabins.... because of the view and larger balcony. So now aft cabins are higher as well. We opted for aft CC (C1) instead of Aqua Class, because they don't have aft AQ.

Have a great cruise!

Celebrity previews Solstice entertainment

7/3/2008

Celebrity Cruises unveiled a taste of the entertainment that will be offered on the new Celebrity Solstice through an exclusive partnership with Poet Theatricals. The company is led by Michael McPherson and Patrice Marques, whose backgrounds include performance and production with Franco Dragone, Circo Luci and the first worldwide touring show of the Lido de Paris.

Poet Theatricals created three original shows for the new ship: ‘Solstice,’ a European-style theatrical circus that includes vocalists, group acrobatic and aerial performances and other specialty acts; ‘Ghost Light,’ which reminisces about all the shows performed in an old Broadway theater; and ‘Pulse,’ whose central character, Rhythm Man, leads widely varied music and instrumentals.

Complementing the shows are specialty acts, also created with Poet Theatricals, including still performers, ring jugglers, fairy characters and various acrobatic artists.

Celebrity Solstice’s main theater will seat 1,115 and sports a curved stage aimed at creating a near theater-in-the-round experience. Celebrity said the traditional orchestra pit was omitted in favor of musicians’ platforms flanking the stage to allow for more seating in the prime central area of the venue.

Entertainment will be offered in other Solstice lounges such as the the 200-seat Celebrity Central’s late-night comedy shows, cooking demonstrations, lectures and films, and Entertainment Court’s flexible space for night events and daytime diversions such as psychics and caricature artists.

I enjoy stopping back here for the updates so keep them coming! Everything looks new & modern but some I am not sure about--will wait til we see it all first hand.

Thel ibrary looks first rate--can't wait to spend time there...

The Celebrity Central looks like the movie theatre but with less comfy seating--wonder if theywill stilll have the theater for regular run films.. Is it seen on the plans?

The regular theater looks Ok but would rather have the little drink tables that made it feel like a club rather than just a theater....I am a traditionalist so I prefer an orchestra pit--hope sound quality won't be compromised. I did not see any barriers, so I am expecting front area seats will be first come first served & not reserved for any special class on board..

one thing I will not enjoy will be acrobats--that died out on Ed Sullivan's show when I was a kid--some folks seem really fascinated with that stuff but not me--give me a good singer, instrumental concert, dance team or high caliber production shows with great voices & dancers, like they have on QM2 & I will attend-- do not like plate spinners, jugglers, , unicycles, magicians or contortionists..Seems like Celebrity is going to the circus with this one!

Also looking at the pool deck, where will the poolside band be located? Best areas are those on M Class on Mercury right now--
