We got a reminder in our cabin when we booked online. If you don't get one, definitely check with the Supper Club to make sure you have a reservation. Don't just show up. I have heard from other people that the Supper Club didn't have their reservation.

THANKS!!!

HEY! HI ALL

HI Sandi!

We booked Nick and Nora's online.. Will there be a reminder in our Cabin or do we just show up?

Thanks!

The steward should leave it in the cabin the day before. Also, when you get onboard, I would just make sure that they have the res.

Our confirmation was in the cabin when we arrived. I also got a confirmation through email. I printed it an brought it with me just in case.

Regardless, I would check on the reservation on the ship.

wcurry66 - Just speaking from my experience - we arrived at the pier around 11:30. Our whole group - except myself and my husband - were on board by 12!! My darling son decided to drive in with his girlfriends parents and they were late getting to the pier so we had to stay behind to wait for him. The lines were very long by the time he got there. We finally got on board by 2:30-3! I did see people using the VIP check in and it seemed they were on extremely quick!! Just an FYI - there was an accident on the George Washington Bridge that held a lot of people up from getting to the ship. We heard that some didn't make it onboard! Things like that can happen so that's why I prefer to get there early. Actually we stood over in NJ the night before! It was extremely convenient!

thanks so much! I tend of be a bit of an overplanner, worrier (as I assume many of us who are read through tons of bulletin boards for our cruise ahead of time :D ) and want to make sure we leave a big enough buffer. According to MS Streets, it's a 5 hour drive. We plan to leave at 6am, which - with no traffic, puts us there at 11. So, asl ong as we don't hit more than 3.5 hours of traffic, we shoud be ok.

711 12th Avenue at 55th StreetSpeaking of sweating the small stuff... I just got off the phone with my TA after reading something earlier in this thread. Someone had posted you could get booted from a corner aft suite if a 4 person group requested it. She reassured me I still have my room and said she'd never seen that happen *whew*

Yes, that's right. the confirmation was in the cabin when we arrived also. I was confusing it with our excursion tickets that came the day before.

Where are you coming from? If you think you're arrival time into Manhattan will be about 11, barring any kind of major accident, you should be okay :)

wcurry66 - I know exactly what you mean. That's me in our group. I read and gather all the info, plan everything and pass it all along. Love it though. I think as long as you leave early enough you should have no worries.

We booked Nick and Nora's on line and there was a nice card in our mailbox outside of our cabin door the night before.

I have nut and shellfish allergies -- so in the Bachus Dining Room -- the hostess had come to our table each evening with the menu for the following day - so I could pre-select my meals and they would be prepared in a safe area... The night before Nick and Nora's -- she came to our table to do my menu plan and I mentioned Nick and Nora's... She was able to go back to the desk, and came back almost immediatly and confirmed our reservations... Nick and Nora's was also aware off my allergies - and although I didn't pre-plan the menu - they were able to advise me of the dishes that needed to be avoided as they may have come in contact with something I was allergic to.

Nick and Nora's was definately worth the added cost --- but make sure you "go hungry".

We have never been on Carnival before. We are really excited because we will be on the Miracle in January with a group cruise. - BUT - I convinced my parents to go on this cruise with us and now I am worried. My Mom had concerns about smoking areas. I told her that I was sure they had designated smoking areas just like just about everywhere else does now. One of my friends just got back from Hawaii on the Spirit and she said that the smoke was everywhere. She said that people smoked on every open deck - even cigars. Is this true of the Miracle too? If it is I need to give my parents a chance to cancel before final payment. What about the cabins? Do they smell of smoke? I have been on three other cruises and I never noticed a smoke smell anywhere except the casino on any of them. Please be as honest as you can. Thanks.

Hi soazlaney:: I have not cruised before but have asked this same question, I have to be careful about smoke, and was aghast when I went to visit Las Vegas, it didn't ruin my vacation but did limit where I could be.. they were smoking cigars, cigarettes, in the elevators, so this was a major concern for me and I have been assured by both Carnival and and cruisers alike that there are designated smoking areas, and if you do get to you cabin and it smells of smoke , you speak to your room steward and he can change the filter, use a special spray, and use an ionizer, and that clears up the problem, I am also going to bring my own spray..but I understand that they will go out of there way to fix the situation if it occurs...so I feel pretty safe going...if this helps I know it would be best to hear from someone who has been on the Miracle but this is what I've read..

We just got off the Miracle last Friday & it was a fantastic cruise.

With regard to smoking: there was no smell of smoke in the cabin. Smoking was permitted in the Piano Bar, in the Casino, at the Orpheus Bar (aft on Lido deck...where cigar smoking was also allowed) and on the starboard side of the mid-deck pool on Lido. There is no smoking in the other venues. **Also, worth mentioning, there is a non-smoking bank of slot machines & a few non-smoking gaming tables.

soazlaney - Cruised on the Miracle a couple weeks ago now and I have to say that although our cabin didn't smell like smoke for some reason the bathrobes did. They were gross!! We asked the steward to switch them for us and he did without a problem. As for everywhere else on the ship - and I know this because my BF smokes - on the right hand of the ship - or starboard side - was for smoking. McGuire's Bar, the casino and the piano bar were smoking bars. McGuire's Bar stunk really bad by mid week we couldn't even walk through there. The casino does have non smoking slots and such as CV322 mentioned. All in all, I can't stand the smell of smoke and it really didn't bother me at all except for McGuire's. Hope that helps.

leave your stuff at home. if your cabin smells ask the cabin steward to finx it- even if it means changing out the bedding.

Mostly be careful of where you are-- if you head into a smoking section by mistake-- most venues are smoke free== only one side of the ship in public is smoking. no smoking allowed in any dining venue- any cabin hallway (although people can smoke in any cabin) no elevators. the main show lounge.

I have been on the phone for about a half an hour with carnival, and am trying to get an Internet access to the bon voyage dept/and what they sell, I can see the general selection of gifts and services on the web site, but I'm talking about purchasing hard liquor, such as vodka etc.,mixes, and they were telling me they have speciality sparkling waters etc..does any one know where I can see a list of what they sell I have tried every thing on the general web site..thanks..

Let's try that again. Got an error when I hit "submit reply."

I'm pretty sure you just have to call to order booze delivered to your cabin. Cannot do it online.

Re: smoking - I was never even aware that smoking was allowed in cabins because we never had the slightest odor.

DD & I are asthmatic and we had no problems at all on the Miracle. We even spent hours in Maquires and the casino. I had to use my inhaler one night after I went to bed, but unless I was sitting directly next to someone with a cig, it was hardly noticeable, and, believe me, as a former smoker, I notice!

I think the Spirit class ships must have very good ventilation systems. Unfortunately, someone just off the Glory said the casino was horribly smokey. :(
