Francine Posted August 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2004 What, if anything, does Celebrity offer guests on board for booking a future cruise with them? Fran
Richard Stein Posted August 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2004 I have not experienced what you ask on my last Celebrity cruise. The prices quoted me on board were not impressive. I'm going again on the Horizon on 9/5 and will check. On my last Princess cruise in June I gave the future cruise consultant a deposit of $100 per person. I had 4 years to use it. I used it in a month. This $100 per person served as my deposit on my 3/05 cruise on the Royal Princess to South America/Carribean. It is a 16 day cruise that would have cost me $1500 in deposits if I had not made it on board. It also got me a $150 per person credit to spend on board. Celebrity does not do this. plvogel Posted August 29, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2004 Celebrity gives you a $200 on board credit on your future cruise if you book on board the ship. This credit it transferrable if you change you plans. You can also transfer the booking to your travel agent when you get home (you still get the credit) as well as any additional discounts your TA can get for you. judyfssw Posted August 29, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2004 Actually, I think that the onboard credit amount varies. It depends, I think, on the length of the cruise. We only received a $100. onboard credit for the southern Caribbean.
plvogel Posted August 29, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2004 Judy, you may be correct. I believe it may indeed depend on the cruise length. We have always gotten $200, but we always book longer cruises (11 to 14 days)
chessbriar Posted August 30, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2004 5 Days Or Less $50 6-8 Days $100 9-13 Days $200 14+ Days $

Sky Sweet Posted August 30, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2004 Can this onboard credit be used for shore excursions that are purchased during the cruise?
bob278 Posted August 30, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2004 I've booked several cruises while on board and never seen any restriction on how to use that credit. I have seen references to some promotional credits that they can't be used for tips or in the casino, but not so for the on-board booking credit. katiel53 Posted August 30, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2004 When we were on the Century last year, we booked onboard for a sailing on the Millenium for this Dec. We paid our $500 deposit and got a $100 shipboard credit. We changed the booking to the Constellation and also transferred it to a TA so we could get a better price than what Celebrity was offering, and we had our on board credit transferred. If you plan to go on another Celebrity cruise, and can afford to put down the deposit, it's a win situation. We had no trouble transferring the credit or our deposit to the Constellation. The paper we got onboard told us that we could transfer etc except not able to transfer the credit to a group cruise. I will do the same thing again when we are on the Constellation in Dec. ABSCruiseLuvers Posted August 30, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 30, 2004 Can this onboard credit be used for shore excursions that are purchased during the cruise? The credit can be used for anything that you put on your on board account.

deb18 Posted August 30, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 30, 2004 If they are still giving an onboard credit, does not that go against the new r&r of nothing of cash value to be given by TA's? are they not giving themselves an unfair advantage when they are trying to level the playing field? (please don't flame me, I just think it is hypocritical) deb

CruznTom Posted August 31, 2004 #16 Share Posted August 31, 2004 Chessbriar - I think your dollar amounts are from the shareholder benefit, as the max for onboard booking credit is $200. The rest of the numbers seem to be in line.
chessbriar Posted September 4, 2004 #17 Share Posted September 4, 2004 If that's the case, thye have changed their policy.
jezzdogg Posted September 4, 2004 #18 Share Posted September 4, 2004 Just off the Millennium and the max. shipboard credit for booking another cruise is 200 dollars, we booked this cruise 8 months ago on the Mariner, so the 200 dollar policy had to be older than that.
