codyody Posted September 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2007 I found a recipe that was supposed to be similar to the one served on HAL on the Food board, but it didn't seem right. Anyone over here have the real info? I asked our last morning and was told it was "just oatmeal, honey, and fresh fruit", but I know there was milk or cream in it. All recipe's I've seen have yogurt included, but I don't think the HAL version had yogurt. I've been experimenting, but so far I have not been successful. FL LuluBelle Posted September 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2007 I hope you get a recipe ~ when I was on the Veendam that was all I had in the morning. I never was able to duplicate it! LU
WeLoveCruising Posted September 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2007 I got the recipe a few years back, but cant seem to fnd it right now. I know I was shocked at all the cream in it (definitely not low fat). From what I remember it contains oatmeal, honey, cream, diced apples, and raisins...I just dont know the proportions. Old As Dirt Mom Posted September 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2007 Seeing as I had a little time on my hands:) ;) , I had fun looking up old threads here on the HAL board about muesli (or mueslix) recipes: Is this the recipe you're looking for? Or is it perhaps this one? Or this one? Or this? Or even this? Enjoy:)
Susie51 Posted September 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2007 Thanks Middle-aged mom for the recipes. Muesli!!!! I have this for breakfast each morning while on the ship, also. Do you know if the Lido buffet breakfast continues to squeeze the oranges for OJ so that people can see the process?
codyody Posted September 30, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted September 30, 2007 M-A-M, you are da bomb! I vote for a combination of the first and second. I'm going to try it immediately if not sooner! THANK YOU:D
sail7seas Posted September 30, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2007 No wonder it is sooo good. It is shockingly fattening. At least a number of the ingredients are healthy. :)
Sailorgirlseattle Posted September 30, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2007 That stuff IS really good! I've bought a similar (and probably healthier) version in the grocery store in the bulk foods section. Pretty good. Add a little yogurt to it. sail7seas Posted September 30, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 30, 2007 Our Wild Oat store has a mixture to which yogurt can be added. I haven't tried it but this thread gives me the inspiration to look at the nutrition facts and see if it might be something we would have now and then. Thanks for the suggestion. Hope what they offer is within reasonable limitations.
CruiseLiz Posted September 30, 2007 #11 Share Posted September 30, 2007 Amazing! We loved the museli on the Zuiderdam & ate it at every opportunity. I have always wondered what is in it. We have the cookbook, but I don't remember seeing the recipe in there. Thanks so much for posting it. And all this time I thought is was a really low-fat breakfast!! :)
codyody Posted September 30, 2007 Author #12 Share Posted September 30, 2007 I have merged recipies 1 and 2 (I soaked the oats in milk rather than water) and pronounce it GOOD! And very HAL-like. I had deduced on my own the shredded apples, but the pears make the difference. YUM, thanks again middle-aged-mom!
