#1TravelMom Posted October 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2007 I think I've narrowed down to these 2. We have children who like sand, but we would also like to snorkel if possible. Shade and facilities are important. Any opinions appreciated.
Aplmac Posted October 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2007 I think I've narrowed down to these 2. We have children who like sand, but we would also like to snorkel if possible. Shade and facilities are important. Okay here are the factors as I see it. Miami Beach is a nicer beach, and is breezier than Batts Rock, but Batts Rock is closer to your ship when the time comes to leave. Miami Beach has more shade, especially in the afternoon sun time, when Batts Rock will become progressively more exposed, and M.Beach has a hot-dog/snack vendor or two. Miami Beach has zero snorkelling, unless you like looking at expansive sand flats with grass beds: Batts Rock should have at least a lil something out on the point there, although I've never personally snorkelled there ___________________________________________
#1TravelMom Posted October 9, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Can you tell me what the approximate driving times would be from Miami Beach and Batts Rock?
Aplmac Posted October 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Can you tell me what the approximate driving times would be from Miami Beach - and from Batts Rock? From M.Beach I'd allow for a half-hour, maybe 35? From B.Rock 10mins. depending on traffic (in both cases)
#1TravelMom Posted October 9, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Do you know if there is construction going on right now at Batt's Rock? Do you know what the drive time would be from Wildlife Reserve to Batt's rock? Do you have any idea what a taxi might cost from Batt's rock to the pier? Thank so much for your help! Four Seasons is embarking on a biiig project South of Batts Rock Bay/Beach, that may or may not engulf Batts Rock area and turn it into an(unConstitutional) 'private beach', so..................... Drive time: Wildlife Reserve to Batts Rock - 45 mins? 30 if you're lucky? Getting a taxi at Batts Rock ? not a sure thing at all, I would think unless your man comes back for you. B.Rock is very much a 'local' beach, thus few taxis but I could be wrong..
