SUN TURNIP Posted October 10, 2007 #51 Share Posted October 10, 2007 In January we took a 5 day out of NOLA for $239pp. I am taking my next cruise in a few weeks on the Fantasy it was around $250pp. I guess that makes up for the Princess cruises that i took(with balconies) at well over $2000 per cruise.

sullaRaffaello Posted October 10, 2007 #53 Share Posted October 10, 2007 In the summer of 1972, I was working as a runner for a brokerage firm in downtown NY. At least once a day, I would pass the Italian Line office which was at 1 Whitehall Street at that time. They had beautiful models in their window of the 4 transatlantic ships they ran then: Michelangelo/Raffaello (one model for the 2 since they were virtually identical), Leonardo Da Vinci, and Cristoforo Colombo. Around August of that year, I noticed an advertisement for a student fare of $150 + around $7-$8 port charges between NY and Europe, tourist class. The only requirement was that the passenger be between 16 and 25 years of age and have a valid ID card from a high school or college, and be willing to share a cabin. I decided to book it round trip over my Christmas vacation. Since the ship was by no means full, I didn't have to share. So, for around $315, I had 16 days on board the Raffaello, with lavish Italian meals (wine included).

claims cruiser Posted October 10, 2007 #55 Share Posted October 10, 2007 Our upcoming cruise on the Mille - all we had to pay was taxes since my DH won the trip in a contest. Doesn't get better than that! :D

cruisers5 Posted October 11, 2007 #58 Share Posted October 11, 2007 Our upcoming 7 day Carnival Victory Cruise to the Western Caribbean in November will be our cheapest. I got the cruise for the two of us, with all taxes and government fees paid for a balcony cabin for $930 for both of us. Our airfare going down to Florida is on Airtran and it's the last of the "free" tickets we have from the Wendy's promotion - so airfare is free. Transportation to/from airport to Port of Miami - is cheap - my brother lives there, so it will be a "cheap" bottle from the islands for my transfers! weltek Posted October 22, 2007 #59 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Ok, so we've only been on one before this. :-) However, I'm quite happy with our deal: 7 Day exotic western carribean on NCL: $1007 total for 2 (cruise only, includes taxes, etc)...inside stateroom. Airfare was $302 total pp, but we used airline miles, so FREE! Priceline for 2 nights hotel in NO: $65/night. Now, we can splurge on shore excurisons. Sanibel*Gal Posted October 22, 2007 #60 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Our first cruise was in 1998 - Carnival-Tropicale - 5 Days and I think we paid around $450.00 - out of Tampa - we live in Florida so we just drove to the port. That did it, hooked for life.....just not enough vacation time or $$$ to do more than once a year.:(
mikenhe Posted October 23, 2007 #61 Share Posted October 23, 2007 ncl majesty - boston to bermuda 2007. 5 days - snagged a deal about 3 weeks before for $1300 for 4 of us. worked out cheaper than airfare to bermuda ! port - 45 minute drive. on board - took out about $400 for the casino, drink wine with dinner, few drinks here and there, bought photos, tipped nearly $100 for the fantastic kids club staff, bought a few trinkets in bermuda, paid $100 for dinner with our friends in St Georges and finished the trip by then settling the account in cash that I won in the two texas hold em touraments that I entered (and won) on board!! edit - forgot to mention that we booked an inside and ended up with a double windowed outside cabin
traveler/ Posted October 23, 2007 #62 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Our best one is the Transatlantic. We booked guarantee, and with all the applicable discounts, are in a balcony cabin for under $40 per night per person. A lot of research went into that. Does not include air, hotel, etc. just cruise price.

Wilba Posted October 23, 2007 #66 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Splendour of the Seas from Barcelona May 2002 or 3 (can't remember), Two cruises back to back 3day £65 & 4day £95 but it doesn't end there. We had vouchers for £100 per Person, due to a canceled cruise by RCI plus on board credit of $75 per Cabin.Yes the $ & £ signs are correct & at the time worked out at about £45 per person all things taken in. These were not particularly late bookings (about ten weeks before departure). To add great weather, great ports of call, we don't expect to ever achieve this kind of deal again, although we are still looking.

cruisinbuddy Posted October 23, 2007 #70 Share Posted October 23, 2007 So I guess the $14,000.00 I spent on Disney for 5 wouldn't fit in here. That was just Cruise, insurance flights and of course TAXES.
DanJ Posted October 23, 2007 #71 Share Posted October 23, 2007 $1000 for two of us, including air, in 1995 on Westerdam, 7 nights, superior oceanview cabin. I have no idea what the cruise actually cost my uncle's radio station, but that's what his client sold it to me for LOL.

mary_228 Posted October 24, 2007 #73 Share Posted October 24, 2007 We always travel at Spring Break because our kids are still in school, so we can't take advantage of the lower fares offered most of the year. But there are some great deals out there! I like to keep track of the prices we've paid for all of our cruises and to keep apples to apples, I divide the price (incl taxes -which vary consideralby depending on the ports visited and the home port) by the number of days and the number of people sailing (sometimes we have two cabins). I leave out the airfare since that varies so much by destination and how early I book the cruise, but yes, we usually pay an additional $200-650 pp for air. The best price I ever got for a cruise was $86 pp/day for an oceanview and an inside cabin in 2003. Sometimes you will find a 10 or 11 day cruise more economical in this respect (altho it does add up to more overall, and don't forget those gratuities!). The most was $137. princessdivaapril Posted October 27, 2007 #74 Share Posted October 27, 2007 Last year (hurricane season, Sept) 4 night Majesty of the Seas, oceanview with porthole for $250 each for 2 people -booked it about three weeks out which is unheard of for me, the plan, plan, planner:p Wow-i cruised the Britanis twice-1987 and again in 1991--did you know it sunk a few years ago? LHP Posted October 27, 2007 #75 Share Posted October 27, 2007 The best we have ever done was $48.00 a per person per day with an OV on Main for a 7 day.... But we can't book GTYs because we need specific sleeping arrangements for our special needs child.
