settling on board account

I am looking forward to Caribbean cruise on the Emerald Princess in November - I have just pre-registered my credit card and asked if I could opt to pay the bill at the end in dollars rather than stirling ( my credit card provider doesn't make a charge and with the rate being so good I'll get more for my money) and was dismayed to be told I would be charged 3% ! can anyone comment or are we just being ripped off?

As has been said - register the fact that you wish to be charged in US dollars when you check in. If you are thinking to use a debit card to avoid the 3% conversion charge, then simply go to the pursers desk and use that to settle your account. I did this the penultimate evening and left the last days charges to my credit card. It did take quite a while to use the debit card as they have to get approval.
