farmgirl63 Posted June 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2004 We are going on HAL Zaandam July 24, 2004 and need some shore excursion advice. Has anyone done the Haines Wilderness Kayak in Skagway, the Brooklands Floatplane Homestead Tour in Skagway or the Taku Wilderness Loadand Glacier Flight Adventure in Juneau? We have done the usual Alaska stuff last visit-train, wildlife quest and shopping but are looking for something a little different this trip. We will probably do the Misty Fjords Flightseeing in Ketchikan for sure. Any advice would be much appreciated!! Thanks!
Rare geoherb Posted June 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2004 We booked an independent kayaking excursion in Haines last summer through Eco Orca. I've read both good and bad things about the company. We had a great time. It was just the two of us with one guide, kayaking on Chilkoot Lake. There was a group on a cruise line excursion at the lake at the same time. They had a couple of dozen people per guide. They also were put into tandem and triple kayaks. I had arranged for each of us to paddle our own kayaks. We had more time on the water than the group excursion and were able to paddle farther than they did--all for less money.
