Help from New Yorkers

Can anybody recommend any good shops that I should visit to buy a plus size evening dress - I'm struggling to find what I want in the UK. We have a full day in NYC before we board for our cruise and I'd love to get a new dress. I don't know the names of any chains to target. Any help would be much appreciated. Obviously mail order is not an option. Sue

There are lots of places and I am sure others will have more ideas, but i would start with Macy's on 34th street. Flagship store for this chain in the US and that would be a good place to start. Also Bloomingdales on 59th street.

For a good discount store try Century 21....nice store, some great bargains...designer clothes at good discounts, but since it is a discounter, you never know what they will have--but worth a look. If you will be in Lower Manhattan (not sure what your plans are, but it is near Ground Zero) it would be worth a trip....I used to go when I worked on the New Jersey side some years back...great stuff

Looks like you will be here in Novenmber, so you may find some good sales too! (Plus most of the stores should be decorated for the Holidays...which is always lovely!)

Lord and Taylor has a wonderful plus size department. They are on 5th avenue and about 38th street. Good luck.

another vote for lord and taylor. they always have a great assortment of plus size everything and a very impressive evening wear department.

also do a google search for plus size dresses in Manhattan....

 

all the above are good ideas. At Macys at 34th street if you go to the Mezzanine customer service and show an out of area license or passport they will give you a day sales pass for 13% off almost everything....sale prices included.
