Barcelona Wheelchair Hotel

The wife and I will be staying in Barcelona a few days after we get off the

ship and need help with a accessible hotel. We would like to stay on the

la Rambla Blvd or one block off if possible. I am in a wheelchair and would

like to hear from someone who has done this in a chair. Thanks in advance

for your help.

Last year we stayed at a Best Western (the Regina?) that was 2 short blocks from the Plaza Catalunya which is at the end of the Ramblas. It was newly renovated so everything was new and worked - including the air conditioning. The room was small, but had 2 bathrooms. The accessible one was locked unless needed. I think we were the first to use it. It was reasonably well equipped, but had a tub instead of a roll-in shower. A free buffet breakfast was also included.

The hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful. In fact there was some confusion because I had been told that they could put in cot for my adult daughter, but there wasn't enough room. When they realized they had made a mistake, they gave her the room next door for free.
