Help! Gift question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My Brother & SIL are going on the Nordam, leaving this Saturday for their 20th Wedding Anniversary.

I want to send them a gift for the room. Is it too late to call HAL and order something?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking to spend $50-$100.

I don't want to send flowers, I was thinking about the signature drink card or do you think the pinnacle grill would be better,

Or should I just order ala carte an appetizer tray, choc covered strawberries & champagne?

Is there anyone out there that had something special sent to them that they really loved?

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Andrea

yes, sorry it is toooo late ....... but, you may be able to phone in an order - or fax it (i think that is the websites suggestion) ....... i wouldn't opt for the appetizers, etc because everybody usually eats for free as soon as they get on board ...... so, treat them to something special that they wouldn't do for themselves - maybe $100 toward spa services or $100 worth of $10 casino tokens - who knows they might hit it big!!! :)

Unfortunately I think you are too late to order on line.

Hopefully, if you call HAL directly tomorrow you could

place your order - but not sure.

If you live close to them - we think your best option

would be to give them a card and a check enclosed for:

Pinacle Grill ! Then they could make their own reservation.

If you are able to offer them a $100 check, it could cover

dinner for two - with tips; as well as little extra for whatever

they choose onboard.

Have to admit - we would love to be recipients of such

a thoughtful gift !

I wouldn't send any of the food items. You just never know when they might be delivered. Besides, as others have said, once you're on-board, all food (except PG) is included. And sometimes those chocolate covered strawberries are offered in the Lido on the dessert cart. Why pay for them???

What do you think might be most enjoyed? You know them best. My folks like a pre-dinner cocktail on their balcony, so I sent a bottle of vodka to their cabin. Another friend likes wine, so I sent a bottle as a birthday gift.

I'm pretty sure it's too late to order on-line. I think you have to do it no less than within 5 days of sailing. Call ship services 1st thing tomorrow. You'll need their name, ship & sailing date. Don't worry if you don't have their booking number. It's not necessary when you call. :)

Thank you all for the quick response.

I'm going to call first thing in the morning and see if I'm not too late.

You're right about the strawberries & appetizers kinda being a waste. I didn't think about it that way.

I think I'm either going to go with the Pinacle Grill or the specialty drink card.

Thanks again,

Andrea

My employee and her husband went on a cruise (not HAL) last year and it was only a few days before the sailing that I decided to surprise them. I just contacted the cruise line (it may have been RCCL) and had $100 OBC put on their account. They got a card in the cabin telling them to "pamper" themselves however they wanted. She told me when she came back that she actually cried because it was such a thoughtful thing to do!

Good choice, IMO! Most of the things other people suggested I would not want!

They may have a little difficulty getting a "prime" time (7:00p to 8:00p) and/or day, but I doubt there will be a problem getting something satisfactory.
