If Carnival Cruise Lines ("Carnival") has adequate notice prior to sailing that a vessel will deviate from the published itinerary, it will promptly upon making the itinerary change notify passengers of the change through their travel agents or directly, in the case of a direct booking ("the Notice"). The Notice shall offer passengers an opportunity to cancel their booking without penalty within 24 hours of the delivery of the Notice. Carnival shall not be liable to guests for any charges, fees or expenses paid or owed to third parties (such as air travel booked by a guest directly with an airline) in connection with a cancelled booking or substituted port. In the event a passenger does not cancel his or her cruise on a timely basis, no additional compensation for the itinerary change will be offered to the passenger at a later time.

 

 

In the event the itinerary change becomes necessary while the ship is at sea or when notice prior to sailing is not feasible, Carnival shall attempt to substitute an alternative port. Carnival shall promptly provide written notice of the itinerary change to the passengers as well as announcing the change in the Carnival Capers and via the public address system. No compensation shall be provided to passengers when an alternative port is offered.\

 

 

If safety, scheduling or other concerns prevent the ship from calling on an alternative port, Carnival shall promptly provide written notice of the elimination of the scheduled port to the passengers as well as announcing the change in the Carnival Capers and via the public address system. The written notice shall also offer a shipboard credit of $20.00 (U.S.D.) per person to be reflected on the sail and sign account.

 

 

Nothing herein shall affect the passenger's ability to exercise the Vacation Guarantee on sailings where it applies.

Not sure about the weather- I didn't see any storms out there, but we did just have a front blow through here, and the winds were still pretty stiff, even today. I didn't get the AWOS winds, forgot the GalvASOS number. But if they had 35 mph winds, they could likely lose up to half their speed if it was a headwind (which it would have been, or at least a quartering headwind)...then again, they could be having propulsion problems again, and trying to keep it under wraps! I just don't know. The 10pm boarding leads me to believe that they'll be doing some serious work to her if she's coming in 11 hours late...

Ive gone on the Texas Treasure Casino ship out of Port Aransas and it takes that tiny ship 45 minutes to get out far enough before the slot machines turn on. Maybe it wont be too long till the ship is out far enough to open the casino and you can get a few hours in. Still it does sound like a bummer your missing Cozumel and not Progresso.

They are getting an alternative port so the 24 hour/cancel rule does not apply.

The part you highlighted...starts with if a itinerary change is made WHILE AT SEA (of if its too late to notify passengers), so that part is not what is applicable.

 

this change was made BEFORE the ship is at sea (so para 1 applies), so you are allowed to cancel. I know many who had to quote carnival's policy back to them but were allowed to cancel if there was a iteneray change. You might have to push it...but some were allowed to cancel because of changes made BEFORE the cruise.

 

As long as the port change was made before the ship went to sea and pax were notified they can cancel within 24 hours. (not that I would, I just like to cruise myself)...just saying yep you can cancel per this policy.

She's not 'tiny' unless you're looking at her from a Conquest class ship or larger... She 471 feet! Certainly not huge but there are many cruise ships operating world wide that are considerably smaller.

 

Now, had you said 'old' I would have agreed!
