Canuk Lindylou Posted October 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2007 We're on the Emerald in February out of Miami and have heard poor reports about the balcony setups. Has anyone found this to be a major problem?? First time on the website, have enjoyed the forum questions. Thanks
chrysalis Posted October 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2007 Welcome to cruise critic....are you asking about the right ship, because the Emerald does not sail out of Miami, she is out of Ft Lauderdale for her caribbean season? Also, what do you mean by "balcony setups"? The furniture?
Canuk Lindylou Posted October 27, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted October 27, 2007 You're right, the Emerald leaves from Fort Lauderdale, not Miami. Confused as we fly into Miami. Been told that the balconies aren't private, the one above overlooks the lower one etc. and some near the top are overlooked by people on the top deck. Anyone found this to be a problem? m steve Posted October 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2007 Look at the pictures of the ship and there is a definate setback from deck to deck. Princess balconies are not very large unless you are in a mini suite or above
Rare jbpinkie Posted October 27, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2007 We are just off the emerald today. The balcony set up is identical to the grand class ships. I have pics posted in my signature now that show the balconies on the Caribbean and they are the same. Will be posting room photos etc. from the emerald as soon as we get them labled. She is a beautiful ship!! As for your concern, it depends on which deck you are on, as to wether your balcony is covered, partially covered, or totally exposed. The Dolphin Deck is the deck where the mini suites are and they are totally open. The next deck up is the Caribe deck (where we sailed on CB) and it is half open, and half covered. The following deck up begins totally covered. So it really depends on where you are.

Rare jbpinkie Posted October 28, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 28, 2007 Thanks.... I sooooo wish I was going with you. Our next cruise is looking like it will be the Innaugural of the Ruby, I can't believe I have to wait for over a year... But it will be our honeymoon, so I guess it is worth waiting. LOL I am sure you will have a magnificent time!!
Rare jbpinkie Posted October 28, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 28, 2007 Good evening all We are on the Aloha deck, midship balcony, since you have sailed on her have you noticed the balcony's for that floor. We sailed the Crown last time on the Caribe deck. ;) That would be a standard size balcony, with room for a small round table and 4 nice size chairs. It is covered.
