chrtay1 Posted November 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2007 Hi, We will be cruising on VOS to the Mexican Riviera for the first time. I was wondering if it is necessary to take local currency or if US $s will be sufficient? The ports for the trip are Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Thanks,
FitzLA Posted November 4, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2007 Everyone takes U.S. dollars. No need to exchange. Just make sure to bring small bills. Some places may not have change in U.S. dollars (or they say they don't) and you will end up with Pesos. If you have small bills, you won't run into that problem. Lazy sunday. I have nothing better to do than respond quick. lol. Enjoy your cruise. I have done the Riviera once, and I am doing it again. Different than the Caribbean, but I love it. And since I am from L.A., it's easy for me.
cb at sea Posted November 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2007 If the Mexican's didn't want the American dollar, do you think so many would be crossing the border to get our money to send home?????
Nukesailor Posted November 4, 2007 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2007 They will also take most major credit cards. Be advised, though, that some cards charge a percentage for conversion of charges in pesos to dollars. I think it's 3%. Enjoy the cruise.
