Volendam 3425 staircase?

We're in an HH, 3425, on the Lower Promenade on our upcoming Volendam cruise. The deck plans show a staircase (?) in front of the window. What is that staircase used for? It surely doesn't go up to the Dining Room or down to Main Deck? What is it for, does anyone know?

We were in 3431 (last one aft) on Volendam in Sept'. I noticed that staircase during my walkabouts. It is a glass enclosed staircase, there is one on each side. I never saw anyone using it, maybe the doors were locked, I did not try them. As for what the staircase is for --- beats me  but I am sure someone will come up with an answer.

Just a thought, could it be an emergency exit from the dining room??

So if it's glass enclosed and goes right across our window, then we probably won't have a view outside at all. Darn. Oh well. The price was right.

I bet you're right about it being an emergency exit. I hadn't thought of that.

Robin,

From looking at the deck plan the only place that it could go would be the dining room. I guess thats why the H is an "Obstructed" view cabin. Doesnt look like any one will be able to look into your window either. And you have only a few feet walking to your huge balcony!!

And I assume we'll get some natural light, so it's all good. I can't wait!!!!!

It's good to know they're locked, Ruth. Thanks.
