We have been on two Disney Cruises, and they do not have a casino. We are now going on a Princess cruise, which obviuosly do. So the question is how does the money/chips/room account/atm thing work. Is it best to bring cash? My wife is a slot jockey, and I want to make sure we do not have to pay more to fees, etc.

You can draw money from your room account (up to a certain amount per day) or your ATM account but there is a fee. Cash will be the cheaper way of doing this or traveler checks (paper form not the plastic card type).

3% charge when charging casino play to your shipboard account. ATM fees, I have no idea, never use them to tell you the truth.

Best to bring cash or travelers checks if you don't want any fees attached. ;)

Definitely bring cash. The fee for getting chips on your onboard account is 3%. Don't know about the ATM, whether it's a flat fee or a percentage. Someone else is bound to know that.

It is really kind of nice really.

Take cash. Then (If you win on slots) you use you ship card, make up a pin, then bank the money to a casino account. IT IS NOT YOU SHIP/ONBOARD ACCOUNT. Then, next time you go down? You just transfer say 100.00 from you casino account and it goes into the machine. I noticed. The slots play with you the 1st day out. Then (for us) on 4 days at see? They seemed to be a lot tighter. But I did the same thing leaving Hawaii. Hit them on the 1st night. Got most my money back. Then watched the next couple nights. And NO ONE was getting anything. You can cash out of your casino account anytime. In fact DONT forget to the last night.

 

But I had fun for most the cruise playing with their money.

 

Take cash though. Use IT for the casino.

I believe that there is a 3 percent fee for a "cash advance" from your shipboard account, but the purser's desk and the casino will cash travelers checks for no charge. This is safer than carrying a large amount of currency.

I also bring extra cash as I play in cassinos at some of the islands . Ive done well at Bahammas as well as Cozamel CARL:D

I was on the emerald on the oct 27th sailing. the slot machines was cool. all you had to do was put your cruise card in a special slot enter a pin number which is easy to set up and take money off of your account. then if you cash out you put it back on your card into a bank. so if you when anything you can just play from your bank. and if you want to cash out your bank and put it back on the cruise card you take your card to the cashier and they give you cash and then you goto the purser's desk and put it back on. and all of this is FREE no charges

Stewartfan when you have a chance can you supply the type of table game on the Emerald. Craps, let it ride, poker? On last 2 cruises on the Sea Princess the casino was very small. Any info would be much apprciated.

 

By the way not a johnson fan?

The ATM fee is a flat fee and was $6.50( :eek: ) the last time I checked. Once it's out of cash, it's out until the end of the cruise. It doesn't work if the satellite connection is down. Take cash or TC's.

Yes to craps, let-it-ride, 3-card poker, and a few "fun" blackjack variants including face-up and Spanish 21. Also Caribbean stud. Craps is rarely active.

Jeff had tears on Sunday and would hate to be his crew chief on Sunday Night. Mind you it was listed his income annually is 24 Million + so not all bad.

I paid 4.00 for a 400.00 withdrawal last February. If you plan on using your ATM, call your bank before you go so they know you are travelling.

 

I won 2 jackpots (300-400 dollars each time)last year on the CB and just banked the money on my card. Used it all week and then cashed out the last night. Came out about $300 ahead after playing all week.
