makeup face Posted November 14, 2007 #26 Share Posted November 14, 2007 Just got off of Island in SJU. Princess offered for us to check our bags from the stateroom door through to final destination. We did have to claim them at the terminal and walk them through customs. Boarding passes were delivered to stateroom the night before. We are in ATL right now on the way to Detroit. We'll see if it worked. Princess charged $15 PP Question for you...what pier did you disembark from in San Juan? Pan American or Navy Frontier Pier:)
rearadmiral Posted November 14, 2007 #27 Share Posted November 14, 2007 Except for Southwest Airlines which assigns boarding sequence based on order of checking in, I have never seen any benefit to checking in online unless an airline offers FF points or some other inducement, You really save no time at the airport by checking in early. On the other hand, it does prove they have not lost your reservation. In my experiance web check-in allows you the advantage of 1) less chance for airline personelle to bugger things up. 2) A better selection of seats if your reservation does not assign seats at the time of booking 3) some airline/airports have an express bag drop desk to bypass the line for web-ckeck in customers. The airlines are trying to cut back on staff so there are various incentives to avoiding human contact.

Yes it makes sense to check in online in advance--- but you don't have to print out the boarding pass then. You can print it out at airport kiosks or at the luggage check in. Even on Southwest you can check in online and get in group A and wait until you get to the airport to print out the boarding pass.
