Hello All,

DW and I just got off the Carnival Valor from our cruise Nov 4 thru Nov 11. It was the Eastern route for the Valor leaving Miami going to Nassau, The Bahamas on Monday, Tuesday being a Day at sea, Wednesday being a day in St Thomas US VI, Thursday being St Maartin the Dutch and French west Indies. Friday and Saturday were days at sea and back to Miami.

I didn’t write any thing down which makes me mad because accuracy is sorta important to me. Anyway, Here I go. Good luck to me.

Day 1: We took the Red Eye from Los Angeles to Miami on Nov 1 arriving early morning Nov 2. which would be Friday. Dear Wife and I got picked up by our Niece’s husband who lives in Homestead with whom we stayed with; along with the family. This pretty much was a wasted morning due to the jet lag until the afternoon. They took us to Bayside Miami which is for those who don’t know is a real cool spot to go for food and shops. I lived my dream by eating Cuban food. It was fantastic.

Day 2: We woke up normally still with a bit of Lag. And there was a Rib Festival going on in Homestead. We went there and had some fantastic Ribs. Also the 07 Car (Clint Boyer) was there. I took some pics,. It was a fun time there.

Day 3 Embarkation: We woke up normally with Me being Antsi-as usual. Nephew and I drove to the NASCAR Track in Homestead which was only like a half mile a way and I took some pics. Starting out in Homestead._For Us- Driving to the port of Miami was pretty Cool. We went up HWY 1 A1A or 1A1 US1 or whatever the names are. Any way we drove through Cocconut Grove all the way to the port, this is where the story begins:

Bording the Ship: We Arrived to the drop off area at about 11:45 am. It took us about 45 mintes for us to get through the line and board the ship, Once we got on we pretty much craned our necks viewing the ship. Then we were on the ship. I couldn't believe how big it was.

Thanks for the encouragement MachMan. Sorry about stopping short, I think I am still a bit jetlagged. Anyway I thought the ship was huge. The other 4 ships I've had the pleasure of sailing on were the NCL MS Southward and the Carnival ships Jubilee, Holiday and Ecstacy. At the time I thought all of them very big. My first impression was the ship was beautiful regardless of the Green in Rosies and the supposed offensive Red, White and Blue through out the ship. We did have a plan after we got on board. After we got our Sail and Sign cards we noticed we were in the Lincoln Dining room (Midship) @ 8:30 when we pretty much wanted the 8:00 in the aft Washington since our room was aft 8452. Right in front of the boarding aqrea was the Matre'D (sp?) do we got right in line and got our Dining room changed along with getting a table for 2. Very quick and Very easy.

I believe about this time it was arround 1PM so it was time for lunch and strait upstairs to the Fish and Chips above Rosies. I had to try them at least once and I thought they were Fantastic. That was the only time I had them although I could have eaten them every day. There were just too many choices. To be honest, I mostly went back to the Hamburgers. At times the lines were quite long other times not so bad. I don't think I ever tried the regular Rosies Buffet except for breakfast.

After lunch we wandered arround and had a few drinks and wqent back to the roon to prepare for the Muster drill. There were several anouncements notifing us about the upcoming drill. Finally the call was made and we went down to muster deck which I think was deck 4 via the crew stairwell which was about 15' from our cabin. Any way our station was H on the port side of the ship which was the shady side of the ship and quite pleasant with the breeze. It all was very painless. We did stant moving near the end of the drill and went back to our cabin for sail away. It was so cool standing on our balcony watching the Mansions of Miami and Miami beach go by. We sailed at a somewhat slow speed for a while even when we were out to sea. We then came to a stop and were notified about an ill passenger that needed to be transported back to Miami. I never heard what it was but Our Hearts go out to the Passenger and Family. The boat arrived and picked them up and we were off to The Bahamas.

Finally it was dinner time and we put on our best overalls and headed for our dining room. We got there and showed the asst Maitre'D or card with our new table and were seated. Our Waiter, Mark, Asst Waiter, Marcos and our bar server Nora were wonderful. I thought they were the best trio we've had on our cruises. I ordered the New York and to be honest it was cooke4d correctly but a bit grizzley. There was quite a bit I had to discard quite a bit.

Afterwards we went to the Casino and pretty much lost while scoping out which machines we liked. We found them and pretty much stayed with them the rest of the trip.

I don't remember if we ate again later but eventually went to bed and I must Say they were sooo comfortable. Sleep was wonderful and we left the balcony door open and the AC stayed on without a magnet. We just used a patio chair to prop the door.

More Later.

Sorry all, for the delay, I've been in the process of uploading my pics to Webshots since early this morning. The pics are huge pixel wise. I didn't really feel like taking the effort to downsize each one. I should have onle two more batches to upload. Maybe by mid afternoon Pacific Standard Time.

Monday-The Bahamas: I woke up a little late to take good pics of the sunrise so that was a bummer. We worked our way up to breakfast and I think I had a little bacon, eggs, tators and some fruit. It was good. We didn't have any planned activities scheduled so we made it off the ship at our leisure. We found the water Taxi guy for $3.00 and waited a while for him and we were off to Paradise Island Atlantis Resort. We were taken there and some would say we were taken; or maybee extorted for the tour we were given. It pretty much was this house belongs to so and so and what not. After we arrived on Paradise Island we were given correct directions to make it to the Atlantis Resort. The path consisted of alot of colorful homes and buildings and it was easy to find. We wandered the path or street toward the resort and had very nice views of the resort. The Colors of the buildings are typical colors that one would expect. Lot's of pastels. It is Beautiful. The weather was fantastic also. We made our way into the Casino and wandered arround. DW found a slot machine she liked and won $104.00 while I came back with $20.00 more than I arrived with. We wanted to stay there-lol. Since we didn't have a whole lot of time there-Our ship leaves at 1400hrs, it was time to go back. We got to the Water Taxi place and waited for the next one. While waiting we both had some fruit drink- Bahama Mama? Anyway at the time it was good.

We got back on the ship and after we set sailed we went and looked for a spot to sun. We found one near the main pool-Midships-and enjoyed the diminishing sunlight. after that, I don't remember what happened. I don't remember what I had to eat, but I do remember we went to the Disco after dinner and had a great time. 10-11pm was Latin music. My wife being from Guatamala and I enjoyed this hour. After that they played Hip Hop? Dance Music.

I Do Have a question for anyone on the Valor that week. They played a line dance song that had in the lyrics the words: To the left, to to the left, to the right, to the right. :then something or other: Walk it down or maybee walk arround or something like that. That song will always be a reminder to this cruise for me. Music is a powerful stimulant. When we went camping when I was a little boy, I Still remember songs they played those summers. And when I hear them to this day. I get taken back to 1965 and the feeling is a real as it was back then. It will be the same from the Valor.

After dancing I believe we went to bed.

More Later

Yeah, sounds like so far it was awesome. I can't wait until my sailing on the Freedom.

I would recommend you download Mr. C - Cha Cha Slide if you like that song ;)

We also need more about the cruise!

Check out this link...someone from my roll call posted this. I think this is the one you're referring to...Cupid Shuffle. To the left, to the left, to the left, to the left, to the right, to the right, to the right, to the right, now kick, now kick, now kick, now kick, now walk it out yourself, now walk it out yourself...

Tuesday 11-6-07. Woke up later than I wanted to cuz I still wanted to take sunrise photos. I didn't feel like breakfast. This was a day at sea so we found a spot on the port side of the ship and layed out for a while. I had a beer and later felt horrible. Very full and bloated. I'm not sure what it was but I did not feel good. I slept the rest of the afternoon until late evening. Finally I felt well enough to eat something so we went to the Deli and I had a grilled chicken sandwich wich was very good. kept it down so that was good. We then went to bed early.
