bzv143 Posted November 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2007 Any Barbados residents--can you recommend a fabulous small, beachfront hotel? On hotels.com I found the Silver Sands and the Amaryllis available. Comments on them? Our problem is finding a hotel for three people/3 days (12/27-30). Slim pickings out there... sigh. :(

Slim pickings out there... sigh. :( Amaryllis would be nice.Silver Sands is a crime spot. Stay away...it's in a poor tacky area. Amaryllis is close to everything. Nice big tidepool out in front, if you want to swim in their sea, but also two-sided swimming pool(deep and shallow/kids and Mums) - you should like Amaryllis: I know it well, not to stay there of course, since I live here, but I know it well. bzv143 Posted November 15, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted November 15, 2007 Aplmac: Thanks for responding!!! :) Question: Southern Palms Beach Club or Amaryllis?
Aplmac Posted November 15, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2007 Aplmac: Thanks for responding!!! :) Question: Southern Palms Beach Club or Amaryllis? The latter will be quieter. Southern Palms is at the quieter end of the nightclub district known as St.Lawrence Gap. If you're under 40 and like nightclubbing, S.Palms may be your best bet but otherwise, Amaryllis will be perhaps more restful at night?
John Simmons Posted November 24, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2007 Hi, I have been a regular visitor to Barbados for quite some years (about 15) and as well as cruising, have stayed in a number of Hotels.Silver Sands and Amyrillis are both very nice and on the beach but I would't really class them as small hotels.Personally I prefer the West Coast. We stayed at Sandpiper twice and also Settlers beach.I don't have a link but do a search on google.Hope this helps. bzv143 Posted November 25, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted November 25, 2007 John: Your recommendations are marvelous--I ran to Google both, but found that the problem is that both require a 7 night stay minimum, and we are flying in 3 days before our Windsurf cruise. :( Any other comments/suggestions are most welcomed. John Simmons Posted November 27, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 27, 2007 A fair amount of hotels seem to have a 7 day minimum. That's a real shame Sandpiper is really nice.I hope that this doesn't present you with too much of a problem. You could try Treasure Beach,Cobblers Cove, on the West or Alamanda on the South.I've haven't stayed in them but they are small to medium hotels and have a good reputation.hope this helps !! good luck
bzv143 Posted December 1, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks, John. Only hotel left that would accommodate us for 3 days was Amaryllis. Hope this is a good place (?). Comments, anyone?
