AFAMILY Posted November 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2007 We checked online last night to see if there were any changes in the cruise fare on our cruise to Bermuda and it went down $50/pp......we called and the rep gave us the reduced fare immediately. There's 1 NCL sponsored shore excursion.....2 more to go. We'll keep checking since final payment isn't due till March 4th.

Toyz711 Posted November 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2007 or if? last year's cruise just went up and up. the family got a inside for the same price we got our balcony...we booked 3 months before they did. this cruise, we got a good price...it was $50 lower then the week before we booked. since then it has flexed around, but never lower then what we got. congrats on getting a better price...just remember it doesn't happen with every cruise.. zqvol Posted November 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2007 I keep reading that NCL does not honor price reductions yet, here I read they did. Does anyone know the policy? If there is a price reduction does NCL give you the lower fare like most lines, or not? Doe sit matter if it is after final payment? I often travel solos and usually pay double the fare. If I save a bit great if not it doesn't matter because if I couldn't live with the price when I booked it I wouldn't have done so. Thanks

Thanks NCL will allow you to rebook at lower fares assuming the fares actually goes down. Usually not after final payment day. But, NCL has special promos and sales for new bookings only often, where NCL will not allow you to rebook at the lower special promo fares. Sales and promotions are special advertising events created to get more passengers to book. The recent "Pity the Proscinator" sale was one such promotion event. Tuesday and Wednesdays sale offers are too. A I replied a month ago, wait until the promotion was over to rebook your cruise at a cheaper fare. Those cruises that sold well during the promo fares have gone up, those that didn't fares have gone down. Also, special promos are often listed in the accounting books seperately from non promo sales. Often special promos are a losing proposition for companies, you can't blame the cruise lines for limiting them to new bookings only to reduce the loss. Yet many do. Thanks I always check and mine usually end up going up because I book so far ahead but if I can save a $100 or so it is worth it.

AFAMILY Posted November 17, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted November 17, 2007 The rep lowered the price without us re-booking the cruise. She just adjusted the total down $50/pp. Final payment is not due till March 4th at which point I'm sure even if there was another fare reduction we would not get it. We had the same experience with our first cruise. The price went down and they gave us the break. Good customer service I think and certainly nothing they seem to be obligated to do. We give the money back in shore excursions or the casino anyway. It IS appreciated though. Thanks to everyone on these boards for all the advise. Alot of it came in handy our first time and will again for this cruise I'm sure.
Stout Drinker Posted November 17, 2007 #9 Share Posted November 17, 2007 Great news that you were able to get yourself the reduction. Did you deal directly with NCL or a travel agent? It's nice they didn't pull the "only new bookings" loophole that they sometimes like to use.
