recent Jewel debarkation?

We were also on the 11/11 Jewel cruise. We had red tags and waited in the Viking Lounge until red was called at about 9:10. Caught the elevator right away and headed down. There was a bit of a line but it moved quickly. It seems they don't do a real immirgration. We just had to have our passport out to show to the immigration person as we walked by. So no real hold up. We were out of the terminal by 9:30.

Deck 13 elevator up, and then to disembark down from 13 for Diamond members? (I wanted to say "guests", but used "members"

instead. "Guests" seems to bring back memories of our DCL Magic cruise).

On this chaotic morning?

(Emily, from Empress, where are you? I'm shore you could greatly improve this situation.)

Really, you put the highest ranking C&A members up on 13, and then have them fight for down elevators to disembark? Uhh, umm, who thought out this disaster plan?

Hi Rick,

Let me know how your debark goes. I am on the 1/20 sailing. Think I read somewhere that Southwest Airlines would be doing the luggage thing like AA and a couple of other airlines. Have you heard anything about that? We will be on Navigator next month so hope to find out for sure. Hope they do have that convenience. Just got back from the Freedom on the 11th.

Annieee, How was Freedom? Can you send pic's of you on the Flow Rider? We are on US Air next to FLL. Have not yet heard of their participating in the baggage deal. Would love to take part in it. For a few $$$ it would be worth it.

Take care, hope to sea you.

We were surprised they did not have a private platinum/diamond area. In February on the Adventure of the Seas they had a private room, champagne, danish OJ. On that cruise we went to the room and they asked if we would like white tags to get off. On the Jewel Sunday we had red tags. Had I know they did not have a private platinum area I may have asked for the other tags from our room steward.

It was fairly painless getting off. Nothing like the nightmare we had on Sovereign in August!!! That had to be the worst ever!

Why do people sit on the stairs during the disembarkment??? Nothing like lugging your bag with your stuff from the night before and toiletries and worrying about tripping over some person copping a squat on the stairs!

Shanafan,

We were on the 11/17 sailing of Jewel & we are Diamond members. There was a private departure lounge for members up in the Vortex. We had Beige luggage tags & were off the ship fairly early.

You mentioned you are Platinum members. According to the benefit section of C & A, Platinum members get a Private Departure Lounge for boarding the ship, but the "Private Departure Lounge From the Ship" does not officially kick in until Diamond level. I had also questioned that when I was Platinum. I hope that helps.

Like you said, it was fairly painless getting off the ship. I agree.

Those people on the stairs were probably the same ones that went down to deck 2 when we arrived in the Bahamas after they specifically announced to stay clear of deck 2 until the ship was cleared by the officials upon arrival.

Every ship I have been on have included platinum members in the departure lounge and disembarkation...even if technically,it is not a P perk..

We had white tags.........

Tanker,

Did you take your own luggage or have a color? I want to take an 11:20 flight and very nervous, traveling with two people that might have trouble carrying off their luggage.

We went to the Guest Relations on the second day and let them know that we had an early flight. They requested our tickets, but as we do e-tickets so we used a copy of our itinerary (printed from the KIOSK). We did not want to hassle with carrying our own bags off the ship. On the day before debarkation we were given beige tags. We were amazed at how quick the debarkation went and hope that you have the same luck. We were very concerned about meeting the early flight as we were returning on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Tanker, we are sailing on Jewel in January and are D. Just curious, isn't deck 13 kinda inconvenient for an easy departure? I know it wasn't your plan, but on Empress we met at a lounge on the departure deck. How smoothly did it flow for you?

Rick and Deirdra

We were amazed at how smooth it went. We are Platinum members and had requested early departure to meet our 11:15 flight. We were in the VOTEX, had beige tags and when the announcement was given for beige to depart we went across the hall to the elevators, pushed "5", got off the elevator and literally walked off of the ship.

So, how was debarkation on Jewel recently? We did B2B on her last Dec. and had the worst debarkation ever. We are Diamond, and there was no Diamond priority debarkation at all. Most pax didn't wait for colors to be called, and all just jammed up in lines from the Centrum and all down hallways on at least 3 decks. Found out later that there were not enough immigration agents. If this is still a mess, we will opt to carry off our luggage for our Jan. 12 sailing.

We are on the same cruise as you Please come on over to the M&M thread and meet your fellow cruisers

:D As Canadians always facing the threat of winter storms we have found over the cruising years that staying overnight removes the stress that can often accompany the end of a cruise. As Diamond, the Vortex was just fine and we were close to last to leave. No problem with porter finding luggage and a taxi. The extra cost of a layover has always been beneficial to our peace of mind.:)

. But then we had the incomparable Deborah Gorman (now on Brilliance) as our LA, which makes a huge difference.

Deborah is incredible - so nice, personable and helpful. She is easily, IMO, one of the best RCI employees I've encountered.

Yes it does, Platinum gets a private departure lounge ON THE ship, but priority disembarkation FROM the ship is listed as D/D+

You may wish to prepare yourself for disappointment, then. Last year we had lavender 3 tags and didn't disembark until about 9:30 from the Viking Crown. We were plenty comfortable, though, and they didn't take away the coffee and such at 8:30 as sometimes happens. But then we had the incomparable Deborah Gorman (now on Brilliance) as our LA, which makes a huge difference.

I love the idea of priority, but I'm willing to let those with early flights to catch get off in time to catch them. Not so crazy about the excursion folks cutting in front of me, though.

OT, glad to hear that Deborah Gorman is on the Brilliance -- she is so helpful and pleasant; will be on the BOS next month. :)
