freddiebud Posted December 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2007 Questions re: Shuttle Times. 1. What happens if you miss your time? Can you go later? Or are you dependent on whether there is available space? Will you have to purchase new tickets? 2. If you are early and there is available space, can you trade for the earlier shuttle? And how long does it take to get from the entrance to the shuttle bus start? Thanks.

You can go later on a "space available" basis but generally the buses are booked up at least a day in advance. They may also charge you a $4 change fee. If you arrive early and want to go on an earlier shuttle, you can check at the Wilderness Access Center (WAC) and change your ticket. But again, if you are trying to do that the day of departure, slim chances. The park "entrance" if you mean where the Denali NP road branches off from the Parks Highway to the WAC where the shuttle buses depart from is about 1/2 mile, maybe slightly more. Note that the WAC is different from the Visitor Center, which is another 1/2 mile further into the park than the WAC. John
Budget Queen Posted December 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2007 All the shuttle buses I've been on- many, they would NOT accept anyone but the exact timed ticket. If you miss your bus, you will have to head back to the ticket counter, at the Access Center and see what they say. I've been in Denali Park plenty of times when NO seats were left for that day. I suggest you book at time you can live with and make your scheduled bus.
freddiebud Posted December 11, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted December 11, 2007 Thanks for your answers. DH and I are habitually early, but for some unknown reason, he wanted to know what would happen.
