Aplmac Posted December 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2007 We are in Barbados during the day on New Years Eve, We were thinking of Accra beach or The Boatyard. Will anything be open on that day or do most shops, restaurants etc close until the evening oh gosh no..the island will be buzzing with preparations! Shops and businesses will be very much open and it's a shame you'll be leaving us before all the dressing up and celebrations start! Do Accra. It's waay cooler than Boatyard - not that Boatyard is a bummer,it's not but Accra is a very nice place with a few shops around that area as well as Chefette fast-food(yummy Pizza!) and semi-touristy Quayside Mall well within walking distance across the road from Accra Hotel, from which the beach gets its colloquial name! Only reason to do Boatyard over Accra is if you're concerned about being too far away from your ship (Nervous Nelly type? I doubt it) Boatyard's admission fee also gives you a ride back to the ship, which is handy but at Accra, there's a taxis stand right there and a bus-stop right next to the taxis! and at 3-4 p.m. transport into Bridgetown should be smooth
