CSU Posted December 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2007 I am scheduled Dec. 26, 2007 to stop at Puntarenas on Island Princess. Two separate questions 1) Is the town within walking distance of where the ship docks? 2) Is there a nice beache within walking distance of the docking area? Rare LHT28 Posted December 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2007 1) yes just go up a few blocks and turn right 2) there is a beach right by the dock not sure how clean it is for swimming though

Rare LHT28 Posted December 31, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2007 We are on the Island Princess in Feb - is it safe to wonder on your own in Costa Rica? We walked up into town & to the supermarket & back along the beach ..it does look scary but if you keep your wits about you it is fine.

Nancyquilts Posted January 1, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 1, 2008 If you walk to the left of the end of the pier, there are many handicraft stalls - we got a beautiful wood jewelry box for our granddaughter there.
mindy41 Posted January 1, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 1, 2008 Nacyquilts - thanks so much. Everyday I am more thankful for the CC site. I have learned new things everyday from posters. Thanks again. Lorinda
FredS Posted January 6, 2008 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2008 We walked all around down by the beach. There were many craft stalls, don't know if they are there all the time. My wife went in a cafe and had lunch, I did other things. Is it safe; just keep an awareness of what is around you. A number of years ago my wife and daughter visited San Juan, Costa Rica and the taxi driver told them there was no crime in Costa Rica but, he said they needed to be sure and not leave their purses unattended. whatnot Posted January 8, 2008 #10 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Doesn't that comment about "Don't leave your purses unattended" apply any where you travel and even in the local grocery store! You just have to be alert anywhere you are.
