Aplmac Posted December 24, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2007 Has anyone taken the submarine and bus tour in Barbados? Was it worth $119? I haven't done the sub and bus tour but I have done the submarine tour twice can't recall what it cost, but it was very interesting and worth the money. _________________ See pics below.. Aplmac Posted December 25, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 25, 2007 aplmac. Thanks for the input and the pics. We're really looking foward to it. ===> and so you should be! You're welcome! In the process you get a nice ride out, on their big launch to where the sub is, at its dive site -plus the dive- plus the ride back in! so it's not a bad morning's work, so to speak! Nice views of the island from Out There, too! I used to scuba dive a LOT, and I still found it interesting. Interior of the sub is kinda like flying in a small turbo-prop aircraft (island-hopper/Dash 8..40-seater) it's air-conditioned, and you hardly know when they've closed the hatch or left the surface! Unless you're seriously claustrophobic, you'll be too busy looking at what there is to see, to worry about your head problems! :D TIP: The best 2 seats in the house are the two seats immediately behind the sub's Pilot. Bcozzzz..not only do you get to use the two smaller(2ft.dia) side-oriented portholes in front of your seat, but you also get to see how he 'flies' the thing AND catch major glimpses out thru his biiig 5 ft. dia 'dome' of a view-port, up front!!:) The big tricks to getting these two seats are 1. to know about it... 2. to talk to the loading master about this unique seating/positioning, while he's getting you guys off the big launch, onto and into the sub itself (hang back -don't be in a hurry to board).. 3. follow his instructions to board When/Thru which hatch. When I did it, he indicated that if we wanted those two prized seats that Wife and I should hang back and organise our boarding so we're the very last two people to board the sub - thru "that" hatch and he'll point it out. (Forward hatch, not the stern hatch). It may be different now, but that's what transpired when we did it. Don't be afraid to talk to the guy, and sound 'informed' - it'll pay off! I managed to do this on both my dives, and it really pays off experience-wise/visually! Now you know. You'll thank me for this later, and you can return the favour by getting back on here to let us all know what it was like.. and to post your pictures, okay?! __________________________________________ The small yellow-roofed launch alongside the sub (photo 2)-is not the big launch you'll be riding out, on. That's just the sub's personal/Communications tender The last two shots here show the stern of the old Lord Willoughby tug they dive down to, and around..see it in front the Pilot thru his big dome-port in that final pic. jaxbeach12 Posted January 20, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2008 Aplmac - Thank you for the pictures! They gave me a much better idea of what the trip would be like. I am still undecided on the Atlantis Sub Excursion. I read some other reviews that said that they didn't think it was worth the money and that they really didn't see much. They said they saw more snorkling. Did you actually see anything? Could you describe the visibility and what sealife that you saw on your trips. Thank you for your help.
