Sundagger Posted January 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2008 Weather for San Diego for Saturday: high winds, high temp of 58, 90% chance of rain. And the 2nd bit of bad news is an email from HAL (via my TA) about the delayed boarding time: " We have recently been experiencing a heightened level of gastrointestinal (GI) illness on the ms Oosterdam. The ship is following a special cleaning andsanitizing protocol developed in conjunction with the U.S. Centers for DiseaseControl and Prevention (CDC).To enable us to complete a thorough pre-departure cleaning, San Diegoembarkation will now begin on January 5th, 2008, at 3:00 pm, with the shipsailing at 5:00 pm. The itinerary will not be affected by this change. We encourage guests to delay arrival to the pier until 3pm. For guests thatneed to arrive prior to 3pm, check-in will be available and luggage can bedropped off. Continuous complimentary shuttles will operate from the terminalto the shopping and historic districts to enjoy the day in San Diego. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at 1-800-577-1728."
sail7seas Posted January 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2008 There is a post that says boarding for Oosterdam won't begin until about 3 P.M. so the wave might be delayed?
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted January 3, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2008 While they are say 3 PM boarding at this time, it could definitely be earlier. If I remember correctly when this happened with the Ryndam this past year they were stating 3 but boarding started more like 1:45. I have lolawiz's cell phone. What I am thinking is that we can just post pone it till 3:30. My guess is that boarding will start by 2:30. What I can do is get in contact with the Hotel Manager and see what time they plan to do life boat drill to see if that will be delayed. The biggest problem I see is getting a hold of everyone from your Roll Call of those that may have already left today.

Krazy Kruizers Posted January 3, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2008 The shuttle will take you to either Seaport Village (which we really love) or Horton Plaza - at least it did for those who were on the Nov 20th Zaandam cruise. That is a lot better than what we had in 2006 when the Amsterdam was in Code Red. We all had to sit around the teminal - no shuttles -- didn't board until nearly 2:30.
