Harwich to London hotel

Recommended Posts

End of cruise...disembarking in Harwich...staying post-cruise at Park Plaza County Hall...Two of us plus luggage...

What would be the options?

Train?

Taxi?

Car Service?

Celebrity Transfer?

Other?

Anybody know how much each of these options should cost (approximately) and any logistical difficulties encountered?

Also, at the end of the London Stay, flying out of Heathrow...Last time, we had reserved "HoteLink" but canceled on the advice of the Concierge at the Rubens and took a rather expensive cab ride instead. Any ideas on how best to do this leg? We have a 3:15 pm flight...

Thanks

If you don't have that much luggage, and don't mind a bit of walking, you can get to your hotel by Underground, albeit with a transfer - it would be Central line to Oxford Circus, then Bakerloo line to Lambeth North. Likewise, going to Heathrow, you could take the Bakerloo line to Picadilly Circus, then the Picadilly line to Heathrow. Or stay on the Bakerloo line to Paddington and take the Heathrow Express.

However, if you prefer not walking or have a lot of luggage, a cab from Liverpool St. Station to your hotel shouldn't be much more than 10 pounds, and about the same for a cab to Paddington to catch the Heathrow Express.

Train plus taxi from Harwich to the hotel. Don't forget that in addition to the special cruise trains you've been directed to, there are regular normal trains direct from Harwich International to London Liverpool Street as well, and they take only a few minutes longer (because they have a few stops en route).

If you do take the Tube, I agree that Waterloo will be better than Lambeth North. The location of the hotel is inaccurately shown on some online maps, and it is much easier to walk from the York Road exit of the Tube station to the hotel, than it is to get there from Lambeth North Tube.

On the way back, I would suggest taxi to Paddington plus Heathrow Express if you don't want to take the Tube. Alternatively, if you can take the Tube and you could walk your luggage over Westminster Bridge, you might want to walk over to Westminster Tube, take the District Line to Barons Court (or Hammersmith if wet or windy) and change there to the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow.
