Recommended free port of miami shuttle/parking hotels?

MIA - Have stayed a couple times at the Red Roof Inn and left car there. After first time, we opted for cab instead of the shuttle which makes multiple stops. Cab was $25 each trip. Hotel is okay, but it is a Red Roof. Parking is not gated nor is it well lit or patrolled (that we know of at least). We may try Summerfield Suites or one of the others next time.

FTL - HIGHLY recommend Fairfield Inn & Suites. We stayed here on our Oasis cruise last May. Very nice hotel, parking is well lit, and grounds are pretty secure (not gated, but partially fenced and they have security patrolling the lot adjoining the two hotels).

We opted to hire a cab to/from port instead of using their shuttle which has multiple stops. I believe the cab was $20-25 each trip. We will definitely stay here again next time we cruise out of Port Everglades.

Just remember when figuring cost, consider what you would be paying for parking at the port.

I'm looking for a good clean hotel from Jan 19-23. I'm flying in Fort Lauderdale, but our cruise leaves from Miami. We want a hotel in FLL because we've never really explored the area and also want to go to the Sawgrass outlet mall and also Seminole Casino.

Does anyone know of a good clean hotel that offers transportation to the Port of Miami.

Thanks

Marilyn

I've read a few other responses regarding Total Auto Rent, or Total Parking Services, so I thought I tell you about my experience with them.

We used netparkfly.com to reserve with Total Auto Rent in Miami. It's near the airport, which is about a 15-20 drive from the Port of Miami. The drop off went smooth, and transport to the port was fine. The problem occurred upon pickup. As per their instructions, we called for pickup once we were off the ship and ready to go. They said it would be about 20 minutes. Over the next hour and half, I called about 6 more times, and each time was told that there was a van in the port and it should only be a few more minutes. There were two other groups there with us, all waiting for pickup from Total. We saw one van go by completely empty, but it didn't stop. We saw three other vans go by, all completely full. After 1 1/2 hours, I gave up and took a taxi. By the way, taxi from the port to Miami Airport is $25 plus tip. By the time we left, we were the only people standing in front of the ship, except the porters who were waiting for the next batch of cruisers to arrive.

By the way, they didn't wash my car.

Park at the port.

While you may save a couple of dollars, the hassle for the free parking and shuttle isn't worth what you put up with; lousy hotel, stuck in the middle of nowhere, damage to your car, etc.

Agreed. I am beginning to think this might be a much better option and save the hassle. It's not like parking at the port will break the bank.

La Quinta Miami Airport offers free one-way shuttles to th port of Miami. ..

There are 3 (at least) "La Quinta Miami Airports".

Only one that I could find offered "free" port shuttle.

I just actually booked one that didn't offer the free shuttle...when i called to ask if they had free shuttle they told me they did NOT, but upon checkin they can arrange port shuttle for $10 per person. Since this location had 24 hour airport shuttle (others only ran until 11pm...our flight gets in at 1130pm), and since the hotel was $35 cheaper than one of the "free shuttle" hotels, we booked it...will save $15, plus the cost we would have incurred getting to the hotel from airport.

Just started looking for hotel today and will still search for a better deal, but if this is our final selection we will be pleased. Room was $119..$134 with taxes.
