sunworshipper3 Posted January 11, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2008 We are booked in an end aft mini-suite on deck 11 on the Jewel in 2009. We'd love to hear from anyone who has stayed in one of those suites - pros/cons. We'd also love any pictures anyone would like to share. This is our first cruise with NCL, so maybe this a bit of post-purchase dissidence. :) Mike & Pat
Supercilious Posted January 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2008 We had a deck 11 mini-suite on the Jewel just after Thanksgiving last year. We loved it. Some of our party were in cabins towards the bow of the ship and they complained of the ship's movement. In the aft, we never felt it. If you are on the Southern Caribbean cruise, try to get a cabin on the port side. We were on the starboard and didn't get much sun during the final two sea days of the cruise. elruth Posted January 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2008 To Supercilious...Did you hear any noise from deck 12? I see most of the mini suites on deck 11 have restaurants above them etc. Could you post which mini suite you were in?
2boyzmom Posted January 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2008 We are staying in an aft minisuite next month on the Jewel and have only read great things about them! Be aware that two of the cabins are configured differently then the others with the bed next to the window. You can do a search here and read which exact cabins they are... LadyBerard Posted January 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2008 Were the aft minisuite balconies larger than the other minisuite balconies on the port and starboard side?
Grandpaul Posted January 12, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2008 We were in 11152 last month for a 9 day cruise. We had some rough seas and did feel it somewhat. THere was a tropical depression near us that caused it. So I don't think that will be a problem for the next few months. There was some noise from the restaurant above us one night. But that was from the cleaning crew. Once in a while you would hear a table or chair move but no big deal. The biggest problem we had was with the balcony door. We could not lock the door in place after going out on the balcony. So it would swing open and shut while we were moving. That's a pretty heavy door to be slamming open and shut. The maintenance people tried to fix it but couldn't. So the room steward made up a pole to put behind the door while out on the balcony. It did the trick. Supercilious Posted January 13, 2008 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2008 To Elruth: We were in 11128. We didn't hear anything from the restaurant above us but we could sometimes hear people jogging up on 13 but this never bothered us since no one was jogging at night. Our cabin was absolutely fantastic. Great batroom, great bedding, comfortable living area, and a large balcony area. The aft suites look bigger with more comfortable loungers but I'm sure they cost a lot more.

We were on the same cruise as "Grandpa" in an inside II on 11 and the noise from up above was awful. BUT, it did not interfere with the cruise being one fo the greatest ! :)
