That's good..but since they say Friday..if I needed to wear something on Thursday..I'm thinking I'll not put it in the bag cause that will be the one time it didn't come back early. I thought someone else said theirs came back on Friday, so YMMV.

It says that, but we have done it and they are always back the next day.

Be careful with those bags. they can cause poblems. This was offerered on a Carnival cruise we went on once. they had a plastic bag with the carnival logo on the bed with the instructions when we came in to get ready for formal night. We really didn't need to wash anything so we didn't use it. We got dressed and went to dinner. then went to the show. Later we went to the casino and then the midnight buffet. Finally after about 8 hours we went back to the room to get ready for bed. Well, when I took my pants off, the plastic bag was in there !!!! It seems that I sat on it while getting dressed and it got stuck to my butt!!! The colors from the Logo were all over my legs, underwear, etc. We still laugh about it today !!! so be caeful !!!!!! :) :) :)

HA! LOL. I hope someone took a photo of that! (Please don't post it though!) Good Story.

How to fill the bag.

First select all you clothes carefully, and seperate

Then get two freestyle dailies.

You need to select enough items so that when you roll tightly they will stick half in half out of the bag, T-shirts are good for this. fold in the arms and roll so you have a smooth outer layer and all are the same hight.

Roll and pack all the really thick stuff first filling the bottom of the bag to the same level so you still have space for the t-shirt selection to sit on top and stick out.

When you think the botton half is full take thinner stuff, shorts, underware socks etc and place between the freestyles, you can then slide them in down the side of the stuff allready in(clothes won't slide thats why you need the dailies) once the bag is ready to burst do the next layer but this time be realy carefull with the final packing since it will be very easy to rip the top of the bag another trick to sliding stuff in is to do it in the middle by rolling stuff in a freestyle and then slide in.

Using these tricks you can get about 1/4-1/3 more clothes in the bag than you first think you can.

You could ducktape the top to prevent it splitting this but I have never bothered.

The other tricks(have not tried) that is more difficult to execute but would probably mean you could get even more in, a plastic bag and the cabin stewards vacuum cleaner, clothes are a lot of air.

On our cruise, people in our group used the service and it was back on Friday, which was in time for my friend to pack the clean clothes back in her suitcase. Not reliable if you want to wear the clothing on the cruise.

I agree. why bother.

In the way of an update, we were recently on the Gem, and maybe NCL has realized how the timing in the past may not have been that attractive. On this 10 day cruise, we left on Wednesday, and I believe the "$19.99 Fill 'er Up" bag may have been delivered on Friday night, with pick up on Sunday morning.

This was not a bad deal, as if we had done it, the clothes would have been back to us on Tuesday. This allows you to pack a little lighter, and though you're only a few days in when the offer is made available, at that time you can decide how you are doing on clothes, opt for the deal if need be, or make a decision on whether or not you are going to use the laundrette on board the Gem and some other ships as well. My wife opted for the laundry, since we were watching the two NFL football games from a great "perch" in the La Cucina restaurant, and plenty of time to go back and check a couple of times on the laundry, which was actually only one flight of stairs away from us. There was also very little competition from others using the laundry that early on the cruise. From then on, we were all set, especially since we each bought a couple of T shirts along the way.

[i've also wondered if different parts of the ship have the offer available to them at different times during the cruise.]

I agree that if you're going straight home from the cruise, you would have to weigh whether getting clean clothes back the day before you disembark is that important to you.

But, where this comes in very handy is if you have post-cruise plans. Our next cruise, after we disembark in Barcelona, we plan to drive though France for a week. Any help in not having to find a laundermat in France will be welcomed.

One piece of advice: make friends with your cabin steward!

On our last cruise, I rolled all our clothes and did a very good job of getting ALMOST all of our dirty laundry in the bag. We were there when the cabin steward came around to collect the bags and I joked that I almost got all our clothes in there! The steward asked what I couldn't fit in the bag and I showed her a small pile of clothes that wouldn't fit. She said, "That's OK - we'll do those, too!" I tipped her a couple of dollars on the spot and she went off with all our laundry!

One other comment - the detergent they use is not the best and the scent is not agreeable (to me anyway).

Last comment - they put little tags in each article of clothing so, the next time you slip on a pair of skivvies, that itching feeling you get is probably from the little tag - just rip it off at your convenience.

Happy cruising!
